The quest continues to find the best Mexican restaurant in the 219 Area. Will it be this one? Unfortunately it won’t be this one. Sorry to spoil the review, but this is an average little Mexican restaurant in Crown Point. It seems small from the outside, but when you walk inside, go straight, and turn left into the dining area, there’s plenty of seating. We got to choose where to sit. That was a plus. We chose a cozy, corner-type booth.
We were served Chips and Salsa to our table after we were seated. That’s always a good way to kick things off. The Chips weren’t my thing, but the Salsa had a really nice blend. They kind of go hand-in-hand, though, unfortunately. I ordered a Diet Soda and a Mango Margarita On-The-Rocks. For our food items, my girlfriend and I, decided to get two different things to share, yet again. We got a Burrito with Beef as the meat. We got a Fat Burrito with Chicken as the meat, because it is the name of the place. It’s be pretty hard not to get the Fat Burrito. I also ordered a Chorizo Taco on Corn with Cilantro and Onion.
The Diet Soda was sweet and I really enjoyed it. I didn’t care for the Mango Margarita. I really wanted a Margarita, too. The Burrito with Beef was pretty good at first, but the flavor did get boring. I also wish the tortilla stayed together better. The Fat Burrito with Chicken had melted cheese on top. I wish it were more flavorful than it was. I surprisingly liked the shredded Chicken more than I thought I would. They put a lot of lettuce in here. I didn’t mind it too much, since it was fresh lettuce. I can’t really say the Burrito went beyond average. The Chorizo Taco was awesome! The flavor was heavy with this and had a more authentic vibe than anything else I had prior to it. I wish I got the Chorizo in my Burrito instead. I tried their Green Sauce and it was odd. It really didn’t seem to have much flavor at all. It was just kind of there and seemed to just give a wet texture and not a flavor additive.
The service was average. She got us everything we needed.
Overall, I don’t think I’d come back since it’s around a 25 minute drive for me. If you’re in the area or live near Crown Point, I say...
Read moreFAT BURRITO is a wonderful place. Everybody should eat there all the time. The people are so nice. The food is so good. It is my fave restaurant. I always get enchiladas. They are fire. If you don't want to get enchiladas then just get something else bc it's all top notch. I would eat there everyday. Don't even get me started on their salsa. I could straight up drink a gallon of it like wow. And the chips are so crunchy. Yum yum. Listen close, you gotta grab your children, grab your husband, you wife, your parents, your friends, your grandparents. Grab everyone. Bring them to FAT BURRITO. It's like such a nice place like its for that whole family vibe. You won't wanna leave. I literally eat and then just chill for like an hour in my booth. (The seats are like bouncy) and I just reflect on the Great meal I had. Literally you should go on dates there. Daddy daughter dates. Friendship dates, dates with your grandma, dates with everybody bc it's great. the guys who work there are basically my home boys. I mean we are tight now bc I eat there like as much as possible. We have a great bond. I'm gonna go there on a group date with like a bunch of my friends and we are gonna order that cheese stuff which you will never be able to stop eating so like I'll be there in an hour so hit them up and we can chill. We'll be FAT BURRITO HOMIES. GO EAT...
Read moreI liked this place over all. The service was good and the people were nice. The food was good as well. I went with a larger group and some of us absolutely loved our food and some of us liked our food. We did not have anything bad to say about any part of the evening though. I did find it a little on the expensive side though. I did not drink alcohol and I had dinner just my daughter and me, and it was $55. They do automatically include a 20% tip and do not tell you. I don't mind it because I always tip at least 20% but I do mind when you don't tell me! Then you run the risk of double tipping and that's not fair. I had the birria taco dinner and it was good, but not great. My daughter had a steak taco and a cecina taco. The steak taco she loved, but she did not like the cecina taco at all. I tried it as well, and was not impressed. The chips and salsa were really good and so was the queso dip. So I would go again and try something different the next time. Overall a...
