Nice bright casual atmosphere. The place looks clean. Very friendly, attentive service. But the calamari was the absolute worst Iâve ever had in my life. It was way overcooked and extremely tough. The breading was very heavy, very thick and hard as a rock. The Ramen was just passable unfortunately. The broth was really pretty good, but the chashu had a stale leftover pork flavor. The noodles were a little mushy and the toppings were a bit sparse.
I didnât have sushi so I canât speak to that. Iâd imagine itâs probably good and thatâs why theyâre enjoying their 5-star rating for the time being. But frankly with 33 reviews prior to this one Iâm shocked. The people that mentioned the ramen being good in their review mustâve either had a much different experience than I did.
Iâve left 180 reviews. Only two 3-star reviews before this one. Fourteen 4-star reviews and all the rest of them 5-star. I donât like leaving bad reviews but felt this one was warranted mostly because this restaurant has a straight 5-star rating at this point which I think is misleading. I was really disappointed. Overall I think my 3-star review was pretty generous. Best of luck to you A Go Go. Hopefully these issues get rectified.
Edit in response to the owners reply
Kudos to you for taking responsibility and responding with integrity. We need more restaurant owners like you! I understand that youâre a new restaurant and it might just be growing pains. Due to your response I will give it some time and try your restaurant again in the future. Iâm hoping Iâll be able to rewrite a more favorable review along with a higher star rating. I sincerely wish you all the best with your...
Read moreWe had a wonderful experience when we first discovered this place, but about a month ago, we had a less-than-great visit. After the ownerâwho is incredibly kind and truly exceptionalâand his wifeâwho is not only warm and welcoming but also an amazing cookâpersonally invited us to give it another try, we decided to return. We're so glad we did. The service and food were just as fantastic as the first time we walked through the doorsâabsolutely delicious.
Also, a big shoutout to the staff behind the counterâtheyâre friendly, skilled, and clearly passionate about what they do. Their talent in the kitchen really shines through in every dish.
An absolute great experience, the food and presentation was amazingly delicious and the service impeccable....
Update: My boyfriend and I returned about 3 weeks ago on a Friday and there was a strange smell when we walked in. We sat at the bar and decided to have Saki and order to go. I kindly ask about the options in Saki or if there was just the one and the young man wasn't pleasant and said just the one. Not sure if he was having a bad day but the service wasn't good. We placed our order and had some Saki. The young man brought the check and stood behind the bar/counter. In the past a young friendly woman would walk over check in on us bring the check and come back to get the payment. This time we waited for the young man to return and he didn't and so we noticed a man at another table walking over to pay and so we just did the same. Not at all the same experience and the food was not as great as before it was really disappointing. We will not return nor...
Read moreMy Wife and I sincerely enjoyed our dinner at Sushi A Go Go yesterday evening. The restaurant features high quality sushi (Japanese style) and Chinese dishes that are delicious, high quality and meticulously prepared. Ideal for couples dining and families with children (10 yr old and up). I mention children because children and adults would love many of the Japanese prepared dishes some prepared with whimsical ways adorned with small flashing colored lights, fog and shark figurines that accompany the items on the plate.
My Wife ordered a full dinner which comes with your choice of side salad with deliciously prepared homemade dressing, miso soup and a few California roles + her main course, all very reasonably priced. I enjoyed an order of General Tsoâs Chicken, lightly battered and fried breast meat and a choice of steamed or fried rice. I opted for the steamed rice which was fluffy and paired great with my General Tsoâs Chicken.
One item worth mentioning, while my Wife happen to order a full dinner, I was not. Fortunately Sushi A Go Go offers both Large (full sized) and Small (like a lunch-sized portion) for smaller appetites for about 25%-30% lower price than a dinner (L) portion size.
Sushi A Go Go is a diamond in the rough and a great find. Definately worth your time and money. Checkâem out, I think youâll agree that this is a place worthy of return visits for lunch...
