My husband and I were excited to try this new place and went there for lunch 2 weeks ago. The overall posted reviews are a mixture of good and bad but we wanted to try it for ourselves.
Good: Our bartender Katie was great! She was friendly and attentive. The only recommendation I have is that when we let her know it was our first time, it would've been nice if she let us know about the bottle beers available. Instead we were provided the draft beer menu, so ordered a draft. She did tell us that a bottle beer menu would be coming soon. If we go back, it will be because of Katie.
Not good: We started out with appetizers. We ordered a Philly Cheese steak eggroll (can't recall the exact name) which were individual wonton shells with lettuce, tomato, cheese and steak. The menu showed a choice of their cheese sauce or American cheese and we chose the American. The steak tasted good, however, the wonton shell was extremely hard and we don't do lettuce & tomato when we normally order cheese steaks.
We also ordered The Mile Cheesy Tater Tots with scallions & bacon crumbles, which sounded great and I couldn't wait to try them! When they came, there was a creamy white cheese sauce (like the sauce you get with Chickie's & Pete's crab fries for dipping) on the tots which had no flavor and made the tots soggy (gross). Also, the tots tasted like a cheap version and the inside part was greasy. I was truly disappointed. Because of the 2 appetizers, we didn't order any other food.
When we finished our drinks and went to pay the check, we saw that we were charged extra for the American Cheese on the Philly Cheese steak appetizer, which wouldn't be an issue if that extra charge was presented on the menu....it was not.
Overall: Our excitement to find a new place to frequent was squashed and we will not return. Although the employees seemed friendly, the atmosphere was not so inviting and impressive that it offsets the poor quality of the food. When there's the Phily Diner and Kid Rip's right down the street, The Mile really needs to step up their game. I recommend spending your hard earned money at Kid Rip's because their food is excellent, consistent, locally sourced, and the staff are inviting...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I split the Loaded Pork sandwich and The Dave (BBQ Pulled pork with Crisp Bacon and a smashed Mac & Cheese ball!). Both had tender meat and came out hot.
The Dave: A TON of meat on this sandwich. Just the right amount of BBQ sauce on the meat. Served on a round roll. The Crisp Bacon added a nice crunch. Make sure you are hungry, and ask for extra napkins!
Loaded Pork Sandwich: The roasted pork was seasoned nicely, complimented by Roasted Red Peppers, sauteed Spinach and a generous amount of Provolone Cheese. The pork had a nice flavor and was juicy. Served on a long roll, which was very fresh.
I also ordered the Brussels Sprouts, which were some of the best I have tried. Roasted in garlic and butter, with parmesan. Some nice crisp pieces as well. A decent serving size - enough for two people to share. I would order these again!!
For a treat we ordered the Bread Pudding Bites. These were phenomenal. Enough for 2-3 people to share (maybe even 4 if you each just want a few to taste). Cubes of Bread Pudding that are Deep Fried and sprinkled with powdered sugar - very tasty! Dense like bread pudding should be, but with a funnel cake vibe. They were fantastic as they are served (The bread pudding is flavored well and perfectly moist), but next time, I want to order these with a scoop of Ice Cream which would take the dessert to the next level.
Overall Experience:
Service was on point (never had to ask for my water to be refilled), and the food came out Quickly. There is a nice Variety to choose from - something on the menu for everyone! Clean restaurant with a Modern Vibe. Great spot for a work lunch or sit-down dinner with family. Lots of Local Beer on tap with plenty of space to sit at the bar as well if you are into the drinking scene. Filling meal and a great value for the amount of food you get. I will be back next time I am in the area for sure.
Thank you for a...
Read moreFrom out of town and stopped in due to the overall reviews. One of the bartenders was absolutely horrible. Deer in the headlight look walking in circles around the bar. Forgetting who she took orders from, tried to bring me food when without taking my order for 25 minutes later. I told her it was the gentleman's who was sitting down the bar who went to the restroom and she set it at the opposite end of bar? When she finally took my take out order, she could not figure out how to place a straightforward order into the POS so she walked away and started cashing others out while, after waiting previously. Finally, the other bartender placed it as the original bartender seemed annoyed for being there. I would have chocked this up to inexperience at some level BUT after waiting for my food, the other bartender asked her politely to get my takeout food and she screamed No! The other bartender was startled as it surprised not only her but everyone on my side of the bar. She asked politely agian and another "I said no"! And stomped away and left the building. I did enjoy the food but simply a horrible...
