Nice little oriental restaurant.... The bento box is a solid winner for lunch.

Several years and a pandemic later... We drove down yesterday evening with plans that my hair-brained idea had created late in the day as work was winding down. I messaged my wife and said, āHey, you remember that place we used to like? See if theyāre still open and doing well.ā She amused me and did a lil research as I drove home from work. The consensus regarding āthe place we used to likeā was a mix of good and bad reviews. Thatās fair... āLetās go see, itās probably fine.ā
Well, about half an hour and twenty miles later, we arrive at āthe place,ā yeah, that one. Thereās nowhere to park. Itās Friday, and itās slammed, so I donāt even attempt to pull in. Driving past āthe place,ā I remembered this other place. āYa remember the one I told you about where I had lunch that time? It was great, and Iāve been wanting to take you ever since.ā She agrees, as plans have suddenly changed.
Reintroducing Tokyo Sushi and Hibachi... We pulled up and parked right at the front door. The place wasnāt what Iād call busy. There were a few people picking up takeout orders, and there were a few tables filled with people in the back of the place. Well, there were a few tables left, and they seated us in the last booth available. It just didnāt āfeelā that busy. It smelled great... The place is basically as I remember it from lunch five years ago. My wife and my son had never been, but they were trusting my impromptu hair-brained idea. āPlease be good... please be good.ā
My wife and I love oriental food, and my son... well, heās picky... As we perused the menu for ideas, I was waaay overcomplicating things with the sushi. We love sushi. As I was overcomplicating things, my son asks about the Lobster Rangoon on the back of the menu. I didnāt even realize there was a back of the menu. Well there is, and there are even more options there, including appetizers, drinks, and the Bento Box... mmmm, a favorite as I recall. So, anyway, we get the Rangoon. Itās hard to find good Rangoon that tastes right and isnāt old and fishy. This was awesome! My wife and I both got the Bento Boxes. My tempura vegetables, dumpling, and spring-roll were excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the Shrimp Tempura and vegetables. The California roll was nothing spectacular, but itās a California roll. I donāt know how that even qualifies as sushi, but I digress. My wife had the Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box, also with California roll and fried rice. Once I remembered to ask for wasabi & chopsticks, the server also brought YumYum sauce. I had not even thought about that option. Win-win! It was on like Donkey Kong. My son, the picky eater, enjoyed his kids plate. Most of that is in the fridge for leftovers. āHey, I love leftover re-fried fried rice.ā Regardless, win-win.
It was a great experience. My son, the picky eater, actually thanked me for bringing him here. Iām sorry that I hadnāt remembered this place sooner....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI hate leaving bad reviews, but I know I want an honest review of a place when I research to see if a place is good or not. We got seated and waited about ten minutes before getting our drink order. The place was only half full. The waitress never asked for a refill. She only took orders and served the food then boxes and ticket. The food was really good! But we had to ask for chopsticks, wasabi and ginger for our sushi. I feel like these should be a given when ordering sushi. The table was sticky and the bathrooms needed cleaned. The worst part is we had 4 adults and 3 kids, one is barely 2! We were charged a gratuity! We paid $18 on our ticket alone! The other ticket was charged an 18% gratuity. $36 in total for gratuity and we only ordered for 6. Our 2 year old ate from our plate. Iāve never had anyone count children as part of the group especially a toddler in a high chair. The waitress did NOT do an $18 job!! So fair warning, they will count anyone to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOnce I went to dinner alone and it was like since I didn't have a dinner party that I didn't exist. I got up several times to request a water refill, lemon, soy sauce and wasabi because the waiter was preoccupied with the one other dinner party and talking among other employees. The waiter seemed to find me as a nusance because I asked for things but it's because he never would come to my table and when he did he turned around so fast that I didn't have time to request what I needed. As far as the food..it's a hit or miss. It's good, don't get me wrong but sometimes the rice can be crunchier than other times. I gave it three stars soley on the fact that the food is decent most of the time at a decent price but the service deserves two stars. The waitresses are usually easier to work...
