A 5-star Google review for a Mexican restaurant in my hometown always means I will be a repeat customer. This takes me on a trip to the South Natomas neighborhood of Sacramento where I had the opportunity in trying out "Algo Bueno" (which means Something Good). Well, this place ain't just good, its GREAT! Located directly on Northgate Blvd. and directly in between W. El Camino Ave. and San Juan Rd., this place has been serving up some delicious homemade Mexican food since early-2022.
Interestingly enough, they actually started off as a catering company and eventually converted to a brick-and-mortar restaurant. The building itself is actually where "Los Gallos Taqueria" once stood for many years so it was refreshing to have it replaced by another Mexican restaurant. The inside itself is rather roomy and spacious with ample seating throughout. There is also a small salsa bar to the right, a nice little bar area up front, and a big speaker that plays a variety of past and present Latin music.
The menu itself is quite simple as they sell your basic street tacos, burritos, quesadillas, mulitas, and fries complete with various sides such as beans, rice, chips, salsa, and guacamole. They also have a nice selection of drinks including fountain sodas, agua frescas, Horchata, beer, and Micheladas. Since I was starving as it was past the 8 o'clock hour during the evening of Saturday 9/3/2022, I ended up going with their "Carnitas Plate" (priced at $11.99) with an iced cold "Horchata" (priced at $3.50). My +1 went with three of their "Carne Asada Tacos" (priced at $2.99/each). We were given a number, proceeded to sit down and patiently waited for our food.
It was very busy during our visit so it took awhile to order (15 minutes) and awhile until our food arrived (another 15 minutes). I received my Horchata first. To me, this was just average at best as it was way too watered down and was nothing to write home about. However, the Carnitas plate was top notch. I received a TON of meat on my plate (see photos below) as it was seasoned to absolute perfection. The Mexican rice was moist and delicious while the pinto beans had the perfect consistency. Not to mention, they included a total of five (5) warm corn tortillas in a traditional tortillero. I came hungry and left very full and satisfied.
To the owner, staff, and chefs of "Algo Bueno", you really impressed me with the food here! My next visit here will be trying their Birria tacos as many reviewers have praised how delicious they are. This is a family business that strives for exceptional customer service as each and every single one of the young ladies treated us with respect. Keep in mind that they are closed for business on Monday but are open from 11am-8pm Tue-Thu, 10am-10pm Fri-Sat, and 10am-5pm Sun. With amazing food, decent prices, prime location, and friendly service, I am giving Algo Bueno a...
Read moreMan I hate to do this because I see that the owner is really trying to take this place to the next level but places like this tend to loose their moral values once they incorporate liquor I went in a little late this night after driving around for nearly an hour trying to figure out what to eat we made the mistake of giving this place a second chance as we walked in I knew that we had made the wrong choice there was about 20 men in there all drunk and rite away we felt uncomfortable waitress seemed to be partying more then attending. Security seems pointless because he was on his phone the entire time once we got to the counter we literally had to tell the lady it was a to go order not exaggerating 4 to 6 times as I placed the order I specifically told the cashier please do not put any mayonnaise on my ceviche tostada and please make it shrimp because my daughter will not eat it. And to no surprise that was completely over looked and itâs probably my fault because I didnât check it before I left rite? Anyways to make matters Worst because it does get worst when I called to see if I could just get a refund back I was told that they could not refund me for the mistake they made but they would make me a new one âfor freeâ witch that wouldnât necessarily be free because I had already payed for it so she would just be correcting the problem but she seemed to incompetent to understand how the pos system works to simply just refund my measly $7 for my tostada this review is.not to attack the restaurant directly but to encourage you to re train your staff or managers on duty to know how to handle certain circumstances with that being said donât dine here late nights the atmosphere is not...
Read moreFirst off, after all the tiktok and Instagram hype about this place I was expecting top notch but instead we received bad service and food quality was very low. The waitress we had seemed nice, however she has extremely long artificial nails, most of which were missing and this is unsanitary for a restaurant. Second of all , my friend ordered a drink which was awful, when she asked for something else the waitress acted as if she was doing her a favor by not charging her for it. The food arrived which was very bland and boring by presentation. When I asked the girl serving the food who seemed to be running the cash register for some lime, oregano, onions, cilantro and cabbage for my pasole she stated that "pasole never comes like that, ever" I mentioned to her that all the other restaurants I have been to serve it with those sides and that is how i would like mine. She was very immature and disrespectful when speaking to me, she also was speaking to her coworkers in spanish about be. After 5 more minutes my friend asked our waitress for the sides I never received, it still did not help give the soup any flavor. This is the first time I have had such a poor experience with service and food quality that I did not leave a tip. I have already told friends and family to not visit this business as it is not worth the hype. If you want to succeed as a business I recommend working on your flavors, hiring educated bartenders and professional people to...
