As a rule I don't generally leave negative reviews. I just never go back. Given that my family and myself have frequented this Giovanni's location for quite some time I do feel compelled to make a critique from the top down. I haven't been here personally since before covid, so I have to ask if this place has changed hands? We came here for dinner, a rotisserie chicken and salad. I called in ahead to order a chicken and was told they pull them out at 5pm. We were there by about 4:45pm. The people were nice but seriously lacking in customer service. We let them know we placed an order for a chicken. They didn't ask for name. They instructed me to use their payment portal which looked liked it hadn't been cleaned all day. Also, the portal asked for a tip, pre service. Which is already a red flag... And I work in the service industry. After I paid, the employee just walked away without communicating anything about my food. Didn't even hand me drink glasses. We sat down and waited for our food... Which should have been hot. We were served cold chicken. No salad no drink glasses. I had to inform them then that were are missing items. Several minutes go by. The chicken was not only cold, it had no flavor. Not what I'm used to from this establishment. Their chicken always has a really good rub, and nice crispy skin. The meat was greyish looking. We did not eat the majority of our food. I also noticed the tables had not been wiped down, the front door was not clean and the pizza warming box was continuously open with people walking by. It was never shut the entire time I was there. I used to know of the owners and the people who worked there. A few of them were my own clients was I worked in the complex. I don't recognize anyone there now. At just around midnight my dining companion informed me they were ill. I can no longer endorse Giovanni's and I nor my family will...
Read morecame to this pizzeria last may and have been dreaming about it ever since. i actually first stumbled here because of work, but came back on a weekend we caught some rivercats baseball. anyway, this is my first time leaving a review but i want to because this place was THAT good! for people complaining about service and/or doordash, don't be fooled by a rare occurrence or doordash's mishandling of everything (seriously, don't use doordash... ever).
i've been to new york AND i've had a lot of pizza in my life. i can honestly say this is both the closest pizza to new york and probably the best pizza i've ever had. the crust, the sauce, the sausage, the cheese... everything just worked so harmoniously well together. this is what pizza is all about. we also had their meatballs and i had a calzone/stromboli. the meatballs were insanely good and the foldover was great, too, but the real hallmark here is the pizza.
the atmosphere here is reminiscent of what old school pizza places used to feel like (i'm a 90s kid). you could pack a whole party in here or just come by yourself, whatever works for you. it has the vibe of a mom & pop and i just hope they are doing well in the pandemic. this whole shopping center is on the older side so please patron these wonderful people!!!!!!
i'm from the bay area and will be heading to sacramento this weekend, you bet anytime i'm even remotely close to the area i'm stopping by. i can't wait to...
Read moreOne of the worst restaurant experiences. Soda machine wasn't working and was never offered anything in return for the soda cup purchased until I brought it up a second time. 1st pizza was great but the lady got the second pizza wrong and never put in my cannoli order. When she brought the wings to our table she dropped the plate spilling sauce and a couple wings on the table. We never received an apology. We had to ask for napkins an clean it up ourselves. Again I had to remind her of my second pizza which she got wrong. She warmed up the second pizza and her coworkers were shaking their head since she reheated it on a pan which made it very soggy. I had to remind her of the cannoli order for a 3rd time. It finally came out and it was completely plain, no cherry or toppings and seemed like it was sitting out since the filling was sour and runny.
I wish this place hired competent workers because the first pizza was great but the soda situation, getting our wings dropped on the table which we had to clean ourselves, getting my order wrong then serving a soggy replacement, the cannoli that was sitting out, and having to remind the lady at least 3 times for my order was pretty absurd and she never tried to make up for any of these issues.. Don't mean to sound like a Karen but I was...
