Nelly's Pub & Grill — Restaurant in Saint Albans City

I tried this place for the first time and despite the great reviews, our food was really sub-par. We got BBQ pulled pork poutine which was soaked in bbq sauce and didn't taste like anything else. Way too much bbq sauce for the serving size. A taco salad which had almost no lettuce (barely a salad) and was quite small for the price. and a chicken bacon sandwich which was 80% bread (a skimpy piece of chicken, tomato slice, and lettuce leaf). Based on the reviews and menu, I was expecting something very satisfying, but it was more like cheap diner food w/ too high of a price tag. I really like Nellys. I have been there several times and the food and waitstaff have always be spot on. I would given a 5 star review but after going to Nellys last night to celebrate St. Patricks Day and having to wait at the bar on the night club side to only be ignored by the bartender and being forced to go to the pub side to get a drink I was less than impressed. I will say when I went over to the pub side I got served promptly. My disclaimer for the negative input. Naomi knows how to work a bar and was doing a good job last night. How ever the other 2 bartenders where to busy being hispters and talking with there friends and flirting with girls. I suggest that they be coached to do there job more and lighten up on the flirting and bullshiting...

This is my girlfriend and I's new favorite spot. We were in town and it was lunch time so we decided to stop in.

We were a little bummed that deep fried avocado slices were no longer on the menu but we got the Tres Amigos with extra guac and queso instead. The guac is soooo good!

We also tried the smothered burritos with white sauce (queso/cheese); my girlfriend got the Saint Albans one and I got the Alburgher. Both were delicious and quite filling we needed to go boxes for them.

Side note: most of this stuff is not spicy though so if you are looking for that kick you won't find it here. They are definitely Americanized/not spicy. We were okay with that though because we think too much pepper...
