Gusto Bistro — Restaurant in Saint Augustine

WOW! What a lucky find we discovered on our anniversary while visiting from Atlanta. We had the most wonderful time here: the place was so small and intimate, our waitress Cheryl, was so unusually sweet and helpful and the food was absolutely AMAZING!! From the house wine (Pinot Noir), to the so flavorful toasted warm bread, the superb salad but especially the main dish! It was one of the best that I had ever had (Fettine di pollo scarpariello)!! My husband had the lasagna and it was equally amazing! There was so much left over that we had enough for dinner another night! We loved our experience so much that we brought our friends with us the very next night! We all had the chicken marsala, and I hate to be so repetitive but I have never had better! Of course we asked for our favorite waitress again (Cheryl) and she was even more lovely and caring if that is even possible!! My husband and I came to Saint Augustine to celebrate our 1 year anniversary. We were looking for a local gem and we found it!!! We were a little hesitant as we were recommend to go to Saints on the water. But you can’t sleep on Gustos!!! This place was amazing the waitress was top notch and worked the entire room gracefully. We always had full drinks and food in front of us. We also met who I assume was one of the owners Tony and his wife Gloria! Lovely out going couple who made us feel very welcome. But the best part of the night was the FOOD! We started the evening with the calamari perfectly cooked crispy but not too chewy. I had the Salmon Portofino and my God big shrimp perfectly cooked salmon not fishy at all and the sauce was amazing! My husband had the Alfredo Pappardelle and it’s was the best he has ever had so creamy and flavorful! We are so glad we chose to come here rather than somewhere in a more touristy part of town. If you are looking for a truly delicious Italian meal, this is where you must go. Small, warm, friendly atmosphere. Outstanding menu with varied selections prepared superbly by Chef Ricardo. I choose gluten free and the chef always has a gluten free pasta which he will prepare with any of the dishes. And the gluten free pizza crust is wonderful. The bolognese is the best I've ever had.
