Found this hidden gem at lunch today. It is very family friendly before the drinking crowd gets there, so great for lunch.
Upon entry is the main bar area with seating right at the bar and a handful of hightops. There are multiple TV screens. Further in, there is a regular dining room and also a separate game room with a few tables. We opted to be seated in the game room and my hubby and son played a game of pool. There are two dart boards and the pool table in the gameroom.
Service was fast and friendly and the owner was uber friendly letting us know a little of his family's personal history and his business, now three years old. Knowing we were newbies, he shared his favorite menu items with us that we are very eager to try. The menu is reasonably priced and offers a kids menu as well. They have daily lunch specials.
I opted for a build your own 1/2 pound burger with all the standard veggies and american cheese. It came on a brioche bun. Ohmygosh, this hamburger was so mouthwateringly delicious. The meat was sinfully flavorful. I had an order of fries which were crispy and hot. Even the Pepsi I had was perfect. I hate when the mix is off. Seems to be off most places we go. Although a small detail, it is important to me.
My hubby had a fresh crispy buffalo chicken sandwich that he finished heartily and said he would order again.
My daughter had the hot wings in a medium sauce. She is quite a hot wing snob, so I was pleased when she joyfully scarfed them down.
My son had a grilled cheese that he gave two very enthusiastic thumbs up and said "best grilled cheese ever," so he was obviously pleased with his meal as well.
The owner was so friendly and personable with my children. We were surprised on our way out that both kids hugged the owner!
Read moreMy girlfriend and her family suffered a loss this past week and had something set up with another restaurant for after the service. Unfortunately the other restaurant didn't inform us that they wouldn't be open when we needed to be there so we had to find a last minute change the day before. My girlfriend called up Saint Bernard pub and asked if there was any way they could accommodate a large party the next day, the answer was absolutely. We had a nice room to our own and the service was fantastic. The tall waitress, I believe her name to be Misty, was fast, friendly, and beyond what we expected for someone that got called in last minute. The food was some of the best local pub grub around. The chili cheese fries were made with homemade chili each day in something I would expect from a high-end restaurant. I had a sampling of wings which were also incredibly good. My main order was the pub fire burger and it was one of the best burgers I've had in a restaurant in a long time. We don't often make it to Saint Bernard very often but we all agreed that it would be a place that we would go to again. Even the owner came out and talked to us, we hope the best for his son. Overall, it's definitely a local business that could use as much help as it can get after the last year. Some people would call it a dive, but those places have a lot of heart and some of the best food and hidden gems around. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures because I don't always think to do that kind of thing....
Read moreAt first appearance it looked awesome, once we walked in we were asked how many wanted to be seated as we mentioned 3. The old woman then told us no and walked off for 5 ish minutes to say that we do in fact have a table. Service wasn't awful at first until they decided to fully ignore us at our table. We then ordered a pitcher of beer (a 17 year old ordered it and wasn't even asked for ID, good job on that one). Service was extremely slow the pitcher was gone before our starter. By the time I had finished my meal I no longer was drunk from my pitcher hinting at how long we were there. When we proceeded to pay we were criticized for the not tipping on an 18$ bill for one individual due to slow service and bad cold food. The old woman then attempted to force us to tip In cash, instead she choose to bump the other 54$ bill to 77$ as she claimed it was a mandatory tip and we had to pay it or else. She was quite aggressive and rude. The only reason this place got 1 star was because Loic Bruni and Loris Verger we're there and they ride bikes like Jesus on clouds.
We were at th restaurant on Sunday august 7th at approximately 6-7:30. And my apologies some may say that 65 is not old but...
