Husband and I went about 40 minutes before the store closed. As soon as we walked in a man missing several front teeth immediately says “this better be to go because we’re closing soon.” Not what we would expect as a first impression walking into an establishment. We order food and asked if it was still fresh because they were “about to close.” The man said yes it was just made. He then uses a drinking cup, with ungloved hands, to scoop out mashed potatoes. When examining the food after paying, we realized the food was in fact NOT fresh and looked like it was dried up and old. We then asked for a refund and wanted to speak to a manager about the poor service. The man then begins to try and lock us out of the store and began screaming at my husband telling him he was the manager and that the food was edible and he wasn’t giving us a refund and was cussing at my husband. He said he was the owner/manager and no one else would take our complaint and he wasn’t issuing any refund and again, tried to lock us out even though their hours said they were still open. As a customer it’s never appropriate to receive that kind of treatment and we were beyond upset about the situation. We ended up being out the money, did not eat he food, told all of our friends and relatives and have not been back to the restaurant and it’s been...
Read moreWent to try Lee's tonight since it is under new ownership and heard good things. Ordered an 8 piece dark meat, beans, mac-n-cheese, coleslaw, biscuits, livers & gizzards. The good: The chicken was decent with good flavor although the coating loses some of its crispiness in the box from the steam but I suppose that can't be helped. The beans were nice and hot and my husband liked his meal. The young man taking orders was nice and polite. Livers were ok. Cole slaw was good and fresh.
The bad: The gizzards were practically inedible. I expect them to be chewy but these were like chewing hard plastic, completely weird texture and the taste was somewhat bitter - what happened? Lees used to make great livers and gizzards. Biscuits seemed to be undercooked inside. The dining room was messy - tables not wiped down and trash on the floor. Definitely rocking that "don't care it's fast food" vibe. I wanted to like it, but....just didn't do it for me. I'll try again and hope it's...
