Willie's Restaurant — Restaurant in Saint Paul Park

Friendly and responsive service and great food, but it took longer than normal to get the food after ordering for a sports bar or fast causal place. The place was clean but a little worn down. There is no view of the river from the dining room.

In response to the owner's question below, if you were the very friendly gentleman who waited on us a couple of days ago, I was with an African American male friend who was coming down with a cold. I had ordered a salad with my wrap and he had ordered wings with his burger and fries.

It took some time to get our food, although we were in at an off time. Although we didn't specify it, maybe bring out the salad and the wings first? That would have broken up the wait. The food was delicious, in any case.

It was a bit chilly so we wouldn't have dined outside anyway, but I didn't notice an outside dining area. An outside area with a view of the river would be nice. It would also be awesome for those warm summer nights. I noticed the stairwell, but didn't check it out, so maybe there was more to the restaurant than I saw.

In any case, nice place...

This place has great potential, but the service is terrible and the owner doesn't seem to care about the business. The SO and I went here for lunch on a Saturday. There were about 12 customers there, mostly seated at the bar. We weren't greeted when we arrived, but we came through the side door so figured that was why. We sat ourselves at a booth and waited 5 minutes for someone to come over with menus. At this time there had been a couple standing at the main entryway for about 5 minutes without being greeted and they eventually walked out. I got our drinks from the bar and sat back down and it was over 15 minutes before someone came over to take our order. We decided to leave and eat elsewhere. The owner was sitting and drinking at a table right next to us and didn't do anything to help his staff, who apparently was too busy to take our food order. The only positive things were that the tap beer was very cold and the server/bartender ended up comping our drinks and...

Not very fond of the owner. I went to an event one evening The place was packed, I felt they were understaffed, the owner refused to help his staff when one of them asked as they were noticeably in the weeds. The owner laughed at the individual staff member as though asking for help was a joke. Throughout the night stuff was getting 86 (ran out of).

Loved the staff, they are great!

This place has Potential all around! A hidden gem. With 2 floors. The 2nd floor (which is usually closed down, unable to access) has outdoor balcony seating. As well. As an event space and more. The whole place sits right on the rivers edge. It even has a boat launch due to the property stores boats and has what looks to be a kind of boat grave yard. Most people don't even know the places there You have to take this one little dirt road that most won't even notice if they drove by it. someone with fresh ideas was willing to invest the potential is there!
