Last night, my girlfriend and I went here for dinner. It took the waitress 5-10 minutes to acknowledge us. A simple we're understaffed and busy, but I'll be back in 5 minutes would've sufficed. Then she finally comes around and asks for our drinks. She seemed annoyed that I kept asking for refills of my Arnold Palmer. We ordered quickly and got out food 20-30 minutes later. Our waitress and another appeared upset that I kept surveying my surroundings. I don't understand why looking around in a restaurant every now and then was upsetting. We got our pizza and salad. To their credit, my pizza was good and my girlfriend's salad was decent. After we were done, our waitress (older lady) completely dismissed us. We tried several times to flag her down to get a paper receipt to no avail. And so I could get one final refill of my Arnold Palmer. She reluctantly responded when my girlfriend caught her attention verbally. She asked for our receipt and a refill of the Arnold Palmer. We got our receipt 5 minutes later, no refill. We left promptly thereafter knowing we weren't welcome anymore. The complete lack of customer service at this place was abysmal. It'll likely be my last time there. Which is a shame because they have good deals on food. Hopefully that older waitress and the younger one with black hair get new jobs. They clearly hate what they do or where they work and it shows in their rendering of customer service.
Edit: Our recent experience with this place was much more amicable. We were seated and attended to promptly. Our waitress (Lauraanne?) was courteous and social. They were a bit understaffed and busy. She refilled my Arnold Palmer like clockwork. Our appetizer arrived after a reasonable time. Though our food took longer than usual to come to our table, our waitress mentioned that they were understaffed and busy due to large pick up orders for presidential debate parties. A simple act of communication like that goes a long way. My girlfriend's salad was great. My pizza was excellent. And the Arnold Palmer's kept coming. Appreciate the improved customer experience. I'll be coming back for half off pizzas on Tuesdays and taking my vegan lady with me. We really do...
Read moreHorrible experience. We arrived here yesterday for our Easter brunch. That was scheduled at one pm. I had a reservation for three. Upon entering The establishment I spoke with the hostess, where she stated that we Would need to wait for a previous table to finish eating and get up because that’s where we were supposed to sit. We arrived. About 15 minutes early for our reservation that was premade more than a month in advance. I asked her why we would need to wait when we were the ones there first for the 1 pm reservation slot. There were 2 empty tables on the same section. When I brought it to her attention she appeared to get flustered, then another staff person who appeared to be a server came up with all of her tattoos and asked was I trying to come on as a walk in. There were several tables that could have accommodated us that were empty. She went to ask her manager and apparently they said it was ok to seat us but In my opinion that’s common sense. Then our server Jake was barely attentive to us. I mean he came and asked us for our drink order then maybe checked on us 2 times for our while experience. The menu was faulty, they advertised a lot of food that was not even on the buffet such as their award winning wings, lemon linguine, an array of pastas, cheese pizzas which happens to be the only pizza my child eats, which is why I choose this place. Not to mention we bb stool out like 3 sore thumbs in a environment that was not for us. I also noticed that Jake was way more involved and attentive to the part behind us that had 6 people as well as the table in front with 5 people. The false advertisement of the menu, the horrible customer service from the hostess and the tatted server were a total turn off and major disappointment, considering the hostess I’m always kind to when I buy my bread and butter but the last time she didn’t want to do any work and go get the container or butter that I ordered. Well good luck for green mill I WILL NEVER BE BACK. IWILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS ESTABLISHMENT TO ANYONE I KNOW. THEY CAN CONSIDER THEMSELVES ADDED TO THE BOYCOTT LIST JUST LIKE TARGET. HORRIBLE PLACE DO NOT EAT...
Read moreThis is probably the worst food that I have put into my mouth, and I have eaten live worms on a dare. My wife and I are moving to St. Paul from Dallas and had spent the whole day going from open house to open house. We were tired and hungry, and The Green Mill was the first restaurant that came up when I searched, "Restaurants" in Google Maps. We ordered the cheese curds, those were actually the ok, but if you are messing up cheese curds then who even are you? My wife and I split a sandwich a pound of wings and each ordered a salad. My salad had dirty rotten lettuce and my wife's had a rotten tomato. I did not proceed with the salad after the first bite, the server was nowhere to be seen. Wings were overcooked and under seasoned. Considering they claim to have been awarded 3rd best wings in Minnesota or something like that, I was expecting something way better. The sandwich was greasy and completely unremarkable. I ate it because I was hungry and wanted to get out of there pronto.
The only positive experience I had there was the people watching. There were 2 older gentlemen sitting on one side of the bar and a rather tipsy, third gentleman sitting on the opposite end of the bar. They were watching the Twins game and the tipsy fella kept shouting at them across the bar. He was just making conversation albeit in a rather loud and uninhibited way. He asked them what brought them to town, and they responded that they are on a vacation for their 25th anniversary. Now I have lived in Texas for many years and in my experience, I have not found 60 something year old, inebriated men watching sports at bars, wearing overalls, to be very open-minded and/or inclusive. I have to give him credit though. He did not even skip a beat. Just started reeling off recommendations of romantic spots to check out while they were in town. It was lovely. The Green Mill is still terrible, but that interaction was...
