I went with my sisters and we had a great time. We got the kimchi fried rice, rosè teokkbokki, hot fire wings, secret sauce wings, and honey garlic wings. The kimchi fried rice was the perfect blend of savory and sour. The rose teokkbokki was creamy and sweet. We thoroughly enjoyed those 2 dishes.
I was most excited to try the wings and the different flavors. My sisters and I were not a fan of the secret sauce. We found the sauce to be too sweet and too thick. The honey garlic was a hit and the hot spicy wings were enjoyable and not too spicy (for me). If you want to try more Korean flavors of chicken wings, this is the place. But if you're looking for the signature, double-fried, crunchy-crunchy Korean fried chicken, this isn't the place.
Before coming here, I read up on a few reviews and saw that it was self service, but almost forgot about it when I got to the restaurant. When we entered the cashier/order taker did not greet us. He looked like he was new and was a little awkward. He didn't say anything to us as we approached the order/check out desk. We stood awkwardly for a few minutes looking at the menu board, waiting for him to greet us or seat us before I remembered it was self service. I directed our group to go sit down to figure out what we wanted to order before going back to the front. The waiter offered us menus as we walked away to go sit down, but I felt like he should have at greeted us, asked if we needed menus, if this was our first time, or to seat ourselves as soon as we arrived so we could have avoided the short confusion in the beginning.
After we ordered, the owner came around to check on us as she gave us our food and asked how the food tasted. I personally do enjoy self-service restaurants, but I think the front workers should be trained to greet guests and inform them of the self-service, since I didn't see a sign for it in the front. Overall, we enjoyed the dishes we got. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. We loved the sponsored BB.Q Chicken scenes from Crash Landing on You that was...
Read moreThe first time I ate here a Korean mother and her child and husband helped me. The mother explained the sauces and difference between “Gangnam” sauce and “Gangjeong” sauce and offered to do a half half. It was really good for Korean fried chicken in MN!
Unfortunately, the recent experience wasn’t so great. The cashier wouldn’t do half-half for wings, only whole birds. The rose tteokbokki missed critical ingredient portions. (There wasn’t enough cream, no cabbage.) The gangjeong wings were served with sliced jalapeño and tasted like sweet and sour fried chicken, often found in American Chinese restaurants. (It should have more soy sauce and garlic. The version we had was straight up sweet and sour. No spiciness except for the fresh jalapeño. No garlic. Lots of sweet and a little sour.) I wouldn’t recommend eating here again based on the sauces being adjusted to a very different flavor profile and the service (not) provided.
For din in experiences, it’s a bit dimly lit, some cracks near the window, but tables are wiped down. Very distinct oil smell, but fortunately no grease on the floors. There’s a large bar area but it doesn’t look like they are selling any alcohol. (Not sure what’s happening there.)
**Korean food franchises in the twin cities may modify the core flavor elements of Korean dishes and call it fusion. However, this place modified the dishes so much that the dish is no longer Korean except in menu name and brand…I’m not sure what this means, but it wasn’t what I was expecting at a Korean fried chicken restaurant. If you like Chinese American flavors, random jalapeños, and fried food/French fries/rice bowls, then I’d say this location is ok. (The Szechuan Chinese wouldn’t do this to fried chicken though. Pretty...
Read moreWhen I arrived, I had high hopes because I found another Korean chicken place. As we were sitting down I got my Ddeok-Bokki and it looked like it had been sitting out a while before being served to me. It did taste good but it was almost like I could feel all the ingredients from it sitting out for a while. I also got the cheese fries and that was not good at all. The fires were soggy and cold. I had the soy garlic chicken and it was good but I had to ask for our bowl of rice because they did not serve it to us and you’d expect it to be one of the first things to come out but it was the last one. The rice was disgusting, it was old. I could tell by the color and the flavor and it was not pleasing at all. I saw a baby in the kitchen. Also while eating they had a business deal going on!!! What kind of restaurant corporation does business during working hours?? They were not only disturbing me but disturbing the other customers. I do not recommend this location at all because they seem very unprofessional and unsanitary. If you’re looking for good Korean chicken I...
