Wonderful new place on the edge of St Anthony Park, off Raymond Rd. Lulu's has been at the State Fair for a while, but this is the restaurant location we've been waiting for. We met my sister and brother-in-law here, along with my nephew (themselves all cooks and chefs). They'd been a couple times already and have liked everything they've tried. I like Mexican food, but not super spicy. If you want super spicy, they have it; but they also have something for just about everyone, even if you can't handle spicy. If you're curious, get some handmade chips first and ask to try several salsas. If I could, I'd maybe give 4.5+ stars for the food. I tried the tingo chicken burrito, and I loved it: a big, authentic burrito with Mexican rice, pico de Gallo, guacamole, and beans. "Lulu" even made more guacamole ( small batch), after two of our group of seven seemed disappointed that they were out (at about 7pm): four of the seven added it to their food, and enjoyed it. My husband though said his (carne asada) burrito seemed to have too much rice in places, and therefore was a little bland (he had asked for no onions and no guacamole, and said it hadn't been blended well). He added salsa which gave it good spice in those spots; he liked the flavor of the medium salsa better, but the mild salsa didn't seem that much milder. My brother-in-law and sister both tried the spicy salsa verde and liked the flavor: for them it wasn't "too much", but they like spicy. My nephew's barbacado salad was huge, and had plenty of beans and some rice, as well as greens and beef. They had not originally planned to make breakfast available after 11 am, but apparently changed their plan, since our twenty-something daughter had a tasty breakfast bowl. Overall then, much closer to five stars than four. This location used to be a bagel place and it still seems a little "empty" of personality, but I feel like they'll keep adding to the atmosphere, as people discover it, and they get a handle on how much of the space they need for seating, and how much they can add for decor. The service was friendly, open and happy to share more info on the...
Read moreFinding a late-night taco option for our wedding was way harder than I expected! After months of calls and emails with tons of taco trucks and taco bars, we finally found Lulu’s Salsa—and they ended up being an amazing choice!
I have Celiac disease, so finding someone who could accommodate gluten-free needs was a top priority. Lulu’s Salsa worked with us to make sure everything was safe for me to eat, which I so appreciated.
I stopped by one day after work to try some tacos, planning to just grab one chicken and one beef taco to share with my husband. While I was there, I saw a birria quesadilla on the menu and decided to grab that too. Lulu’s Salsa actually covered the tacos as a trial, which was such a thoughtful gesture! We also got to sample all their salsas—everything was absolutely delicious. Truly 10/10 tacos!
For our wedding, we went with ground beef and shredded chicken tacos (with all the toppings included), plus trays of Spanish rice, chips, and guacamole. We ordered 150 tacos total, and the pricing was incredible—all of that for under $700! Every other vendor we got quotes from was between $900 and $1,600, so this was such a win for us.
The only hiccup was on the day-of timing. We had planned for tacos to arrive at 9:00 p.m., but they didn’t get there until around 9:36 p.m. I had guests asking where the tacos were, and I ended up having to step off the dance floor to call and check in. It all worked out in the end, but I’d recommend they ask for a “day-of contact” for future weddings so someone other than the bride or groom can handle those details.
Overall, though, Lulu’s Salsa was wonderful to work with, and their food was outstanding. If you’re looking for delicious, affordable tacos for your event—especially if you have dietary restrictions—they’re 100% worth...
Read moreGoogle Maps had me turned around a couple of times, but I am so glad I persevered.
I am Twin Cities based. For reference, on business, I eat hundreds of meals in restaurants, in scores of cities around the world each year.
I was craving Mexican and picked this quite randomly by Google review alone, late on a Sunday afternoon.
I had second thoughts when I pulled up, nobody was there. But I persevered again on review alone.
My Torta ( al pastor ) was absolutely perfect.
The sauces that accompanied were on a different level of fresh and balanced flavor dynamic.
I just wanted some Mexican.
I didn't dream I would be thrilled.
I sit here and look at the empty plate and contemplate.
Should I tell everyone or keep this one to myself?
I am beyond puzzled as to why I could be the only one here with food this great.
I am only telling you for selfish reasons.
I want to see them THRIVE even if I have to stand in line next time.
This is absolutely as good as it gets at this price point.
Homemade. From scratch.
The family business vibe makes me realize the great value.
