I placed an online order before the restaurant was opened.

The UI of the online ordering really sucks.

There is no option for special requests, such as labeling food for a specific person in a group order, or to ensure that the right toppings are added to the taco. There are default toppings that will be on your taco. There are options to select which toppings you would like, and even if you do not select a default topping, you will get it on your taco.

1 person no longer wanted their food, because of all the toppings. I think this could have been partially avoided, if they had kept them segregated from the other tacos, rather than mixing different tacos together in the same box. otherwise if the online ordering platform was up to par with other restaurants, I could have left notes & comments galore, as I do every Friday, with every other restaurant we order from.

Essentially 50% of our group order was not what was wanted/ordered. I called and explained the issues, and was promptly met with "that's not our fault, you should have called" and then refunded $1.50 on an $100+ order. I do need to add, that this employee did offer to replace the 2 taco's that were deemed "inedible" by our picky eater, but we would have to come back to pick them up. We're working, we made the trip once, we don't have that kind of time or flexibility.

I told the employee that I was growing increasingly frustrated with our call, and that I did not feel like I was being heard. Not sure if he heard that, because he continued to talk over me during the entire call. I then told him I was very disappointed and would never place an online order with them again. His response, "OK".

Will never place a to go group order again.

I have dined in at this location, and I had a very good experience. The server was awesome, the Birria taco's were definitely top 3, and I will absolutely return to dine in. That experience was 4-5 stars for sure.

I would give this experience 0 stars if i could, based soley on the customer service. Even though 50% of the order were wrong, the food that was eaten was still good. Good rather than great, because...

I have to admit I love setting up "quests" for myself. Best apple pie. Best gin. My newest quest is looking for the best birria tacos in the Twin Cities. Birria tacos are filled with slow coated meat cooked with spices and served in crispy corn tortillas. They originated in Michoacan in Mexico, and they are delicious!

That is how we ended up at Nico's. Last weekend I picked up a batch take-out. Last night we ate at the restaurant.

We arrived early and sat at the bar so we could talk about tequila and mezcal with the bartenders. They are incredibly knowledgeable, and I ask a lot of questions. I opted for the flight of repasado tequila. The shots were served in this amazingly cool wooden box decorated with a skull design. They were all good, and generally I don't like tequila! It turns out that the various types of tequila ( white, repasado, anejo) are incredibly different. My husband was ordering a cocktail, and the bartender recommended a different one, with Mexican whiskey and a corn liqueur, and my husband really liked it.

Our friends arrived, and we sat at our table. We got their house made chips with a flight of salsas...I loved the roasted corn one but all were good. Of course I ordered the birria tacos - you get three complete with consume and radishes, onions, etc. These really are delicious. They are made with lamb, and it was tender and juicy. My husband and our friends got a mix of tacos. I liked the pescado and pescado asado tacos, but they needed a bit more salt and a bit more topping. The mushroom one was interesting, but rather bland. The single tacos range from $4-5, so it is very affordable. I also had their horchata, which was a very nice version of this classic rice and cinnamon drink. It was not overly sweet, which was very nice!

All in all it was a lovely meal. I will absolutely go back for those birria tacos. The service could not have been better. They were attentive, kept the water glasses filled, and in every way made us feel taken care of. I recommend this...

Nico’s is a favorite of mine however I’m fed up with the inconsistency of the food and service. When yall are on point the food is AMAZING however when yall are off it’s bad. I order the lengua tacos often sometimes it’s seasoned great other times not at all. Recently I’ve ordered online twice. The way it’s set up is after you pick which meat you want you add other ingredients like sauce and onions or cilantro. IT NEVER SAID ALL TACOS COME WITH ONION AND CILANTRO. I clicked the buttons of the toppings I wanted. Onions wasn’t one of them because I didn’t want those. But both orders had them. So yesterday I called in and complained. The manager was rude he spent the entire phone call beating a dead horse about how all tacos come with onions and cilantro. Ok got that. But on the website it doesn’t say that and why does it prompt you to click the toppings? NOT USER FRIENDLY. So the manager just argued with me and kept going on and on about the standard taco. When I tried to give feedback on my experience there was no apology or solution. Just essentially blaming me for not knowing that all tacos come with freaking onions and cilantro! Well I didn’t ask for it!!! I clicked cilantro and picked my salsas. Overall I’m taking a break from Nico’s. I have love hate relationship with you now and I don’t know if or when I’ll be back. Let’s hope the management team sees this and strives to do a bit better. The potential is there. Need more effort. ALSO If tacos are a whopping 6$ a piece I want it to be how I want it. With the toppings that I picked. Kindness goes a long way to the manager I spoke on the phone with yesterday take some classes on how to deal with people. Don’t be a manager if your not up to the...

The Como, St. Paul, MN location is new and the venue has been updated into a very nice and affordable Mexican American restaurant. This playful, casual spot was bursting with folks eating out, an attentive staff, and fun flower pots arranged on the patio to create a beautiful ambiance. There is ample indoor seating, but oh, how nice to dine on the patio on a prefect summer evening. Our meal began with Nico’s Traditional Guacamole; it had plenty of spice for our tastes. It had aguacate, pico de gallo, jalapeño, lime, just the right amount of cilantro and Cotija. The Shrimp taco was excellent and definitely the favorite item that I had. Like all tacos there, it accompanied by onion, cilantro, a fresh lime slice and salsa. I can see where others say they have the best shrimp Tacos/Fajitas in town. I also went for a Scallop taco with a corn shell. It has a generous amount of baby scallops that arrived nice and hot to our table, sautéed with garlic, black pepper and lime with mango-flavored slaw. It presented well but the flavors just didn’t align for me. Then I added some of our guacamole dish and found it tastier. We enjoyed their Mango Margarita evening special. It was a good paring with Sauza Signature Blue %100 de Agave Tequila. It is so nice that this special, long-loved corner in St Paul continues to offer a great dining-out experience.

Located in a charming neighborhood, Nico’s Tacos offers a cozy, vibrant atmosphere that immediately makes you feel welcome. The lively decor and friendly vibe set the stage for what could be an excellent dining experience. The carnitas tacos and chicken tacos were the highlight of the meal—packed full of flavor and absolutely delicious. The tacos alone are worth a return visit. The chips were perfectly crispy, but the fire corn salsa left much to be desired, lacking the punch of flavor its name promises. Additionally, the pico de gallo appeared to have been sitting for a few days, which was disappointing. Service was slow due to the restaurant being short-staffed, which dampened the experience slightly. The restrooms were clean but could benefit from a little TLC. A fresh coat of paint on the heater and cabinet would go a long way in elevating the space. In summary, Nico’s Tacos has a lot going for it with its flavorful tacos and inviting atmosphere. However, attention to detail in both the food and the space could take this restaurant to the next level. If you’re in the area and not in a rush, it’s worth a visit for the tacos! Overall, I would recommend it!
