Read moreThe al pastor tacos here are legit. They are doing things right by cooking the al pastor on the trompo with the pineapple on top. The tacos were delicious and the first bite with the pineapple was such a perfect balance of flavors. They can stand on their own but if you want to add some heat, their sauces definitely won’t let you down.
Also, two al pastor tacos for under $8 after tax is a solid deal with the quality they are bringing. Everything here from the friendly staff to the ambiance was spot on. This is definitely going to be one of my go to taco spots from now on, and I am definitely interested in trying out some of their other menu offerings as well!
There is currently some construction in the area so you will have to take a bit of a short detour. If you are approaching the restaurant heading north on N Park St. or Sylvan St., I found there to be plenty of parking up and down Ivy Ave W which will get you within walking distance of...
Read moreI've been waiting for this place to open for what feels like ages. We've needed a taqueria in the neighborhood and Tromperia El Zac does not disappoint.
Service was friendly. The tacos were excellent - as good as anywhere else I've had in the metro to date. The barbacoa was particularly awesome. The birria was also excellent - everywhere is doing birria now, but I usually find the consommé bland - not the case at El Zac. The consommé was a delicious, salty umami bomb - I found myself dipping all of my tacos in it 🤤 The tinga was also excellent.
The manager or owner (I think) also came out to us and insisted we sample their queso as we hadn't ordered any and wow - it was SO good. Sharp, tangy, perfectly smooth. I'll definitely be ordering it next time.
The menu was much larger than I was expecting - I look forward to making my way through the entire thing.
Welcome to the neighborhood - we're so happy...
