Ah, the old Coffee Cup! Standard of Rice Street. I hadn't been here, possibly, since that summer I helped my mom deliver papers at 5am and we'd go here after we were done. Back then, I remember it being good food, but on the greasy side: Classic old-school diner style.

Two weeks ago, mom suggested we meet up here for breakfast.

Change is good!

"The Perfect Coffee" isn't just this restaurant's name. It's a claim, and it's a claim they back up very well!

The breakfast menu has all the standards you want and expect, but elevated with just the right amount of sophistication, without sacrificing what made the dishes true breakfast staples.

My wife and I split an omelet that was not only perfectly made, but was the size of two full entrées! Portions are big enough that one person could have leftovers for a couple more meals (if you can stop yourself from eating it all!). Prices are still what you'd expect at a local diner, however!

Their coffee is from a local place, and my wife loved it! She then realized they had more coffee options, so we'll for sure be coming back for those, in addition to the food.

The owner sat and talked with us for a while, was very kind, and was appreciative that we stopped by. His family working there were in a great mood and happy to be there!

This is the kind of place you can feel good about, in every sense. We...

My wife and I were looking for a new place to have breakfast. I had read an article about the Perfect Coffee Cafe. It is located in the former Coffee Cup on Rice and Arlington in St . Paul The decor was very nice and the booths very comfortable. The food was excellent! I had the biscuits and gravy platter that includes 3 eggs and hash browns. The platter was hugh and fully loaded with excellent biscuits and gravy that is all prepped from scratch. A to go container was a must. My wife had the garbage tater platter with delicious sour dough toast. I had the fresh squeezed orange juice and my wife the perfect coffee, and it was. Our server Juan is also an owner in the business. He was extremely personable and shared with us the the vision for their establishment. We highly recommend supporting a small local café in which you can enjoy an...

Made our first visit two days ago and my wife and I were very impressed. My wife had the chorizo scramble and I had the Meat Lovers Omelette - both were fantastic. I’m not a fan of chorizo but I tasted my wife’s scramble and it was delicious. My Meat Lovers omelette was spectacular, stuffed with huge amounts of delicious ham, bacon, sausage and cheese. I could only eat half of it so I got to enjoy it twice. And the coffee. My gold standard for restaurant coffee has always been the Original Pancake House. The Perfect Coffee at least matches OPH and perhaps exceeds it. So impressed were my wife and I that we came home and my wife raved about our experience on her FB page. This prompted two of our friends to visit and they proclaimed their lunches as being “fantastic”. The Perfect Coffee has earned a place on our short list of...

Comprehensive menu with a focus on breakfast. Portions are generous. Service is fast. Server is everything a server should be. Eggs Benedict - hollandaise sauce was not very good and my partner couldn't eat it. I had a skillet, it was way too much food for me, & tasted good. I expected shredded hash browns but received cubed chunks.😏 Next time I'll ask for the shredded, cubed dominated the dish. I do wish they would have seasoned it tho. Weird coffee service. We asked for more, expecting more hot coffee in our cups. Instead we received two new full cups. Now there are 4 cups on the table. Server could have removed unused cups. He checked back with us 4 times. It was nice. I really hope this place catches on. I did notice the front door was narrow. I don't think a wheelchair can enter the front door. I may be wrong.

Stopped in to grab breakfast while my spouse had an appointment nearby. Got pancakes, eggs, bacon, and coffee, and it was all delicious. They gave me my first glass of orange juice on the house. The other reviewers are not exaggerating, the orange juice is literally fresh-squeezed once you order it, not even cold, like OJ from the fridge. Service was really attentive and friendly, portion sizes were big, and everything tasted great. Restrooms are unisex, single stall, comfortable, and clean. They didn't mind me hanging out for a little while after I was done eating. Latine, family-owned and run. Go support them, and have a delicious meal while you're at it 💜. Note: Rice Street is currently under serious construction, so look up directions to get there more easily.
