I really really wanted to give this a 5 star. We were visiting family who love this place and go here all the time with only good experiences. I ordered chicken biryani because it's what I like ordering with my partner (from India) in my city, and it's the food he thought i would like off the menu with my food restrictions. The phone was unhooked from a busy day, which is totally cool we went there and my sister put in the food order for take out. While the flavor was okay, the chicken was over cooked and I'm not even sure how it was cut because it was on the bone and in shards. It was nearly impossible to get meat off where i could bite because the meat was tough, there were sharp pieces, making it impossible to eat with utensils. I tried to eat it with my hand to continue enjoying the meal but it wasn't doable. I had to give up after biting into several individual bone shards sans any meat hiding in the rice and almost swallowed a sharp edge of bone.
On top of that, we didn't receive some of our order so my sister and BIL had to share because we couldn't call the restaurant since they disconnected their phone to let them know and see if it could be fixed immediately.
I was really disappointed to have this experience because I've ONLY heard great things about this place. And the people there were so kind when interacting with my sister.
In photos: looked like chicken meatballs, like large chunks of meat, but i inspected closer when i saw part was hard. It looked like chopped areas around the ribcage. I couldn't get more than an ounce or two off of these...
Read moreI've been putting off writing this for months now, and I finally just have to do it. I used to live in Kathmandu and the Juphal region in NW Nepal for several months a matter of years ago. Outside of Nepal, this is hands down the most AUTHENTIC Nepali food I've ever had. It doesn't even come close. Namaste cafe (or a similarly named restaurant) in Minneapolis had a great lunch box meal that had that role for me, and they don't even come close to here. We got moms, a goat curry, Daal bhat, and another chicken curry I believe. Absolutely. INCREDIBLE. Also dudh chia, nepali milk tea, EXACTLY like you'd get in nepal, albeit in a much larger mug. The staff was awesome, their excitement about their food, everything. Mango lassie was never my go to but it was killer. In a time when every Nepali and Indian restaurant seems to offer your standard curries, biryani, etc, and serve everything up in a mild, slightly seasoned sauce, it's so nice to see a restaurant actually be bold and make food the way THEY would want to make it themselves. I believe these guys were from the thorai region which I've only driven through, but they've represented all the nepal I've seen better than anyone else do it yet! 10/10 best of luck guys....
Read moreOne of our favorite restaurants. Our very favorite menu item is the puri sabji - fried bread with a delicious vegetable curry on the side. The sabji in particular makes me think it is the kind of thing Nepalis might eat at home every day. Usually we like momos and dumplings with meat, but the veggie momos here are the cheat winner and even the biggest meat eater won't miss the meat. I really love the chicken biryani as well, where a generous side of yogurt raita steals the show. Our kids love the chicken 65 which is listed as an appetizer but the size of an entree. It is another reminder (like the momos) that Nepal and Tibet are not far from China, as it is kind of a South Asian take on Chinese sweet and sour chicken...
