This place has so many great reviews and all of my friends and family have always recommended it to us. (We are Mandarin Garden regulars...) So I offer my review humbly and only for people who may have similar preferences to mine. My biggest issue with China King after trying it was the breading/meat ratio. I ordered hot braised pork, sesame chicken, and Springfield style cashew chicken (Missouri Statue alum.) They all seemed to be more breading than actual meat. Attached is a picture of the Cashew Chicken and the Hot Braised Pork. As you can see the Cashew Chicken is about 3:1 breading to meat and the pork is about 2:1. I'm sure a lot of people like it this way and 20 years ago I might have agreed. The other thing I wonder is if they use MSG in the food. Don't get me wrong... I'm not some health nut who has some moral issue w/ MSG. But it does seem to affect me negatively and I prefer to avoid it if possible. After eating this food I had the same reaction I have in the past w/ MSG. At the end of the day, I didn't care for the food and if you are more of a "clean" eater, you might not like it as much as the reviews...

We have been customers for almost 15 years, so we’ve had ample opportunity to try many different dishes. Tonight was our first disappointment.
We ordered hot braised chicken and moo goo gai pan, both dishes have been ordered many many times. Tonight they were really disappointing. The hot braised chicken was spongy and all the chicken pieces stuck together, it is supposed to be crispy. The moo goo gai pan had very little sauce and the vegetables were very sparse, twice the vegetables would have been more to our liking. The house fried rice was basically just rice, it had none of the pieces of pork or veggies it used to have.
We will definitely think twice before ordering from them again. To bad, they used to be...
Read moreThe good: Crab Rangoon weren’t overly sweet and they weren’t over cooked. Chicken St Paul had a good flavor. Customer service was great in store. They were prompt in preparing the order. The unsatisfactory: St Paul had to be the flattest/smallest I’d ever crossed. The orange peel chicken was the blandest I’ve ever tasted. Their chicken FRIED rice looks more boiled than fried but tastes bareable with more soy sauce etc. The spring rolls were mushy. Overall I’d order more Crab Rangoon from here if I had intent to order here again. Guess I’ll just more money for better food @Emperor if I crave Chinese food
*Photos of the rice are after addition of soy sauce it actually was way lighter when I...
