El Mezon - Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Saint Peters

Tonight was our final straw with eating here. We moved to O'Fallon a year ago and my husband and I were excited to find out there was a drive thru Mexican restaurant so close so we decided to give the drive thru a go. There was one other person in front of me when I got there, I ordered my food and then drove up. Sat in my car for 15 minutes waiting for the car ahead of me to get their food. Then when I got to the window the woman asked me what I ordered, she asked "the fajitas?" Which was entirely off from my order, I told her what I ordered and sat in my car for at least another 10 minutes before she came BACK to the window to go over what I ordered again! I wanted to just leave at this point but had already paid so stayed and waited, I was in the drive thru for a total of 40 minutes waiting on 2 entrees and queso dip... never have I EVER waited that long for a drive thru and didn't even get an apology. After that, I told my husband we will never be eating here again. Well, a few months later we decided to give them a second chance and go inside and see if the service was any better.. man, was I wrong! We got seated and asked for waters and queso dip.. we got our waters and 15 minutes later we are still waiting on the dip.. my husband gets the waitresses attention and asks him where the queso dip is and she goes "oh you want queso?" Even though we ordered it right when we got there.. finally got the queso and then ordered our food, finished and sat there and waited for our bill.. the waitress did not come and check on us once nor even notice that we had been long done with our food. Left, very unsatisfied and frustrated. Another few months go by and tonight I am craving Mexican food so I ask my husband if we can get it somewhere to go, last and FINAL time EVER eating at this place again!! And I mean it this time! I ordered the food over the phone and the girl on the phone says it'll be ready in 10 to 15 minutes, it's a 15 minute drive from our house, so my husband leaves right after I place the call. He returned home 45 minutes later.. said he got there after the 15 minute mark and he still had to wait and then 20 minutes of waiting a woman came back into the restaurant saying this wasn't her food and it ended up being ours.. this place needs some employees that actually know what they are doing.. save your time and just go to El maguey where the service is actually good and they know how to take care of their customers! I am not one to complain, El Mezon has been our all time favorite spot for great Mexican food and great service for years. I am leaving this review in hopes that El Mezon isn't going downhill. Absolutely the worst service we have had there. Initially I ordered a jumbo lime margarita on the rocks with salt. I was brought the smaller size without salt. When I mentioned the salt, her response was to argue with me about what I ordered, so I didnt mention the size difference. My husband asked what kind of rum they had in in stock, when she came back with a bottle of Crown Royal, it became apparent that she wasn't understanding anything we were saying. I could totally forgive the inability to speak English, had she been pleasant and attentive, but twice we had to ask the hostess if we still had a waitress. The food was amazing as usual, but took foreverrr with a half empty restaurant. It was finally brought to us by a friendly gentleman, as our waitress was nowhere to be found. Once again, after waiting at least 15 minutes after we had completed our meals, had to ask someone to retrieve her so we could get boxes and a check. When she finally arrived back at our table, her behavior was as if we had disturbed her from something.... Sadly...

WORST Mexican place in the St. Peter’s area!!! 😡 They gave us the wrong food 3 times and forgot food in our order! We got our food FINALLY 1 hour after we ordered! That is pretty bad, even though it was busy we saw other customers getting their food and I have been here MANY times and this was the WORST service they ever had!!!! A server Jony was the worst server I have ever had an experience with at a Mexican restaurant! He took my taco salad away from me when I was trying to eat it!!!! He said it was someone else’s!!! Why give it to me??? I have seen many other mexican restaurants have a much better system in giving people their food. FINALLY when I got my real taco salad the cheese was watery and the bowl was 10x greasier than other mexican restaurant’s taco salad bowls. The ground beef was watery and was not cooked right. Probably the worst mexican food I have ever had in my life. Diana who had only been working there for a couple days was the only reason why I gave this place at least one star, she was sweet and apologetic. Make sure Diana is your waitress if you come here.
