I’ll give bulgogi house 3 stars because the food was pretty good. I won’t give them any more because the service was absolutely terrible. I’d strongly recommend cafe Korea over bulgogi house. See below for my most recent experience from about a week ago.
We ordered an appetizer (Kim bop and yaki mandu), bibimbap, and kimchi soup and two waters. The bibimbap came out before the app, our side dishes, the soup, our waters, or any utensils. Before we could ask about the rest of our food, water, or even a spoon to eat with, the server bolted off back to the kitchen. After a few minutes, she came back asking what we were still waiting for. I gave her the laundry list of items we still needed so she came back with waters and a spoon and asked what else. This process repeated until eventually (maybe 20 minutes after the bibimbap came out) I finally got my soup. We got the kim bop and yaki mandu later on after asking multiple times. The food was delicious aside from the bibimbap being cold after waiting so long for the rest of the order.
When we went to cash out, another server asked if we ever got our appetizers and said that sometimes the kitchen just doesn’t feel like making them they so won’t.
To reiterate, the food was pretty good; I’d recommend the kimchi soup. They’re actually open on saturdays so that’s nice. Any other day of the week though, I’d recommend going...
Read moreHorrible in every way!!!! New to the area and had a taste for Asian cuisine. Located this place just off post. First, I waited 15 minutes to be greeted calling back to the kitchen. They apologized. I asked how long for I take out order and was told 15 minutes. Great, I said. I order 3 entrees and 2 appetizers ($50). While waiting, I realized that others were waiting on take out too at tables. Sure enough, 15 minutes proved to be over an hour wait. After so long, I was ready to go once my order came. It was a long drive home and we were starving. I open entree to find 1/4 of the pound of meat for our Bulgogi. Entree was also thin with just 5 ice cold pre cooked shrimp and raw veges (sweet and sour shrimp dish). Last, the third entree had hard under cooked fried rice and no egg as the menu listed. Then, I come to find that we only recieved 1 of the 2 appetizers we ordered and that 1 was burnt on one side (Korean pancake). I called and complain. They offered to fix the order if I could return but I couldn't. I returned the next day with all the food and requested a refund but was turned away. Maybe it was an off night. I don't know. I can't overlook their unwillingness to make things right though. Don't buy...
Read moreAfter trying basically all of the Korean restaurants in Saint Louis, MO, Springfield, MO, and the surrounding areas, Bulgogi House is truly the best, most authentic Korean restaurant you will eat at.
Some of these low reviews I’ve seen for this place are those one unfortunate time situations. They are low staffed, it’s just the owner and two kitchen ladies. So naturally after busy rush hours, the tables are going to be left dirty to accommodate for the service of new customers.
But you seriously cannot go wrong with the food here. It tastes better than most Korean restaurants I’ve been at in both Korea and the states. I would know because I am Korean.
They give you a ton of food and you’ll get unlimited side dishes without extra cost. The rice I believe is an extra $1 for more.
I am going to miss this place when we PCS! Check out all of the dishes I posted here over the course of 4 years since I’ve been here. I’ve gone to all of the other Korean restaurants and they cannot compare.
PLUS, Bulgogi House takes card and not only cash like Cafe Korea...
