La Familia Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Saint Robert

I feel like my wife and I are being punked. We have eaten at 3 different restaurants while in town and they all have been bad, this one included. We waited for about 10 minutes for the only waitress to finish talking with her friends before she came and took our drink order. They do not have relish to go with the chips and salsa and you have to pay for queso. The tortillas tasted like a generic version of mission tortillas. I had to constantly add salt to the salsa. I ordered chicken fajitas and my wife got tamales. Both had to have salt added to them. Like some of the other reviews I don't think the cooks know what seasoning is. You could tell the queso was store bought and it was the best tasting thing. My wife ordered a Coronarita and was charged $3 more than the menu price. Love it. Looove it! Being from Denver, CO was used to getting real good mexican food almost any where. Here in MO not so much. Then I found La Familia. Food is always excellent. And very close to what I could get in CO. Their restaurant & restrooms are always clean. Their service is prompt and friendly. Only thing that could make it better would be to add green chilli. Something that is a regular staple of mexican restaurants in CO. but very few people here have ever heard of it, let alone know what it is. I keep hoping someday. In the meantime I make my own. And La Familia is as close to good Colo mexican food as I have found yet....

Good place to stop and grab Mexican food on a lunch break or quick bite with friends. Not the best location in the area for a dinner or family sit down.

Small, almost mom and pop Mexican restaurant right outside the Fort Leonard Wood Main Gate.

Pros: Chip and Salsa Bar up front, so quick access to something immediately upon seating Fast food service, both in order time and location for those on post Food quality was decent, not the best, but certainly not the worst Decent alcohol/beverage selection

Cons: Last visit my waitress was smoking indoors and I had to leave Restaurant gets pretty busy...
