Searching for a place to eat outside the norm, I came across this listing on Google. I read some of the reviews, all mostly positive, and decided to chance it. I am very glad I did! It boast being a taste of Chicago, can't say I have been enough to know, however the chicken is slightly reminiscent of Harold's. Not in flavor or anything, but something about it. I have only have the lemon pepper flavor, as the other two don't call to me, lol, and it IS GOOD! Comes with fresh potatoes fries, real potatoes, on the thicke cut side. I prefer crunch to mine but they are bad without it. This last visit I added a piece of the fried catfish to my order and it was really good! Crunchy and well seasoned, didn't even need tartar sauce. One of the goes might try the gyro, or a steak burger.
Added notes, they are cash only, not a big deal, but not very convenient. Maybe it's why the prices are nice. It's best to call your order in, I've ordered ahead and in person, 15-20 seems to be the standard waiting period, the little lobby has only two chairs, so it would be good just to order ahead.
If you in or around St. Roberts, definitely stop in, it's...
Read moreBased on the reviews I was really hoping for a mind blowing experience, or something that would put Portillos to shame...unfortunately, I didn’t find it tonight. Small business, calling ahead is imperative, as I waited about 45 minutes for the one person (cooking and tendering), to take my order when I arrived, and finally walked out with food. Hot dog was limp, fries were soggy, but definitely had the fresh cut look with the peels still on. Bummed my Italian beef didn’t have the melted cheese sauce. I did get some fresh cheese on that melted by the time I was home, but the sandwich was so soggy it just wasn’t enjoyable. The hot dog was puny and did not remind me of a Chicago dog. The lemon pepper wings were actually really good though, so 2 stars for that. I may try calling ahead and ordering as suggested, maybe that’ll make it better. Although having to eat it on the spot definitely does not outdo Portillos. Piece of bread was thrown in with the fries, just like in the small shops of Chicago to soak up that grease. More...
Read moreI went here today after work to check out the menu. It's a smaller location and you do have to pay in cash. There is an atm inside if you forget to bring cash with you. It smelled great when I first walked in, which made me excited to try the food I called in for pickup. I wasn't disappointed. The customer service was good and the price was great for what I ordered. My favorite item was the Polish Chicago w/ fries. The fries and rib tips were good, we ordered a large with the links. The links were a bit over cooked, but still good. The chicken wings were good as well and had a good lemon pepper flavor. Definitely a spot I'd come back to for lunch or...
