RooT 42 Bar And Grill — Restaurant in Saint Thomas

OMMMMMMGGGG! What a pleasant surprise! My husband and I stayed in room 321 that had a magical view over Megan‘s Bay at the Flamboyan on the Bay Resort. The last night we had a flat in our rental… (which I highly recommend if you are spending more than a day on the island). The flat tire prevented us from making it to our dinner at the Oceana restaurant, so while we waited for roadside assistance to come change our flat, we ordered an appetizer of chicken wings, naked, which were small in size but good! I had a Caesar salad, which was meh.. the drinks were plentiful.

The service was great, but the food was amazing! It came out hot and fresh and huge in portion size. My husband had the chicken Parm sandwich with fries. He ended up taking the bread off of his meal and just eating the chicken Parm because it was so big. He said it was amazing, I had The build your own pasta which came with penne and a basil cream sauce. I could add anything from variety of proteins to vegetables, etc. I had shrimp, spinach and tomatoes, and was amazed! Tons of food, super hot and very tasteful!

I’ll write a couple more reviews about the other restaurants we went to, ( I read a lot of reviews and people talk so highly of SO many OTHER restaurants on the island), but in my opinion, nothing compares to this unexpected...

Waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for a carry out order on a slow Tuesday night.

A burger, banh mi, salad & some soup. Good burger, mediocre banh mi, decent salad & terrible tomato soup… all acid. My complaint is toward the service, in addition to the kitchen. No apologies or explanation for how long I ended up waiting while as I nursed a beer. Super slow Tuesday night, 3 tables outside & 3 drunks singing karaoke poorly at the bar. Condescending attitude from bartender/server who finally brought my food when I mentioned how long it took. My questions/complaints only met with passive aggressive “have a good night” and “”Merry Christmas.” Wish I could retract my tip, but I paid when I arrived not knowing I’d be sitting there for 30 minutes. Live around the corner, regular at North Side Grind, won’t be back.

This was such a great find! We went here last minute for an early dinner while out and about and boy was it worth it! The food was awesome and the server was just the sweetest. It was raining that day so we sat inside but the meatball sub my husband had was fantastic and the tomato soup and caprese salad I had were outstanding. The mozzarella was fresh and they use the most delicious pesto on top. One of our best meals on the island. Also a plus was they took the time to check with the chef when I asked about ingredients due to my food allergy. Not a fancy place but totally worth the trip because the food is excellent and the service...
