Sammies is a very roomey clean and inviting hangout in west Salem The staff is very friendly and always willing to help Possibly one of the best features of Sammies is the extremely convenient location right next to West Salem Safeway at the West entrance They have rather large be and accommodating booths for the video poker/gaming machines with Oregon Lottery machines and have seven booths I've always had a very nice laid back time thier The beer is unusually colder then most taverns I've visited Mixed drinks available where the bartenders knowledge most any drink I've heard anyone order Not really any well liqueur so I've seen them generally use the normal call liquors with reasonable prices Sammies is a nice easily found spacious clean place to g it...

I don't drink and I don't gamble, but if you enjoy these things, along with deep fried bar food, and sports games on flat screens then this is the place for you. People are nice and drink prices are better than any corporate establishment. I don't need to participate in drinking to know they have good prices. It's not like I have never drank in my life, I just don't at this point in my life. As for the gambling, I don't know at all, I assume it's same as everywhere. Throwing away money for the minimal peak in excitement while the wheels spin, followed by immediate disappointment as reality reminds you with a slap to the face that "the house always wins". Great local place to come have a few drinks, drop a few twenties on the slots and hang with friends and family. The staff are attentive and they pour great drinks. PSA... the make a pretty solid Old Fashioned and outside food is allowed. (My pizza pic is remains of Walery's Pizza just afew doors dow.
