Gradually the quality of the food has declined. We have been served cold sausage, gravy, and country potatoes. All they do is microwave them to make the warm. That is totally unacceptable as I could have microwaved my own food at home. We wanted a good home cooked meal is why we go out, especially to this place. The last two times we have been we have had a charge of Automatic Service Fee Gratuity of 18%. The owner, Dave explained that the servers have to pay a fee to the State of Oregon for each guest they serve, thus the fee on top of any tips they get. The restaurant has now raised their prices as well. What I used to pay $7.25 is now $8.95, a 24% increase. Then add to the $8.95 an 18% Service Fee Gratuity is now $10.66. Overall, that is an increase of $3.41. When we confronted the owner again this time his reply was, "I told you about this before and you can choose not to come back." Needless to say, as regular customers we were totally SHOCKED to hear this out of the OWNER. So bottom line, we will not be returning to this locally owned business ever again which is incredibly sad as we prefer to support locally owned businesses. So, we will be looking for another one to patronize.

For all of the reasons above I would give it ZERO...

1st time here for my boyfriend and I. We read the reviews before getting here and they were not good but still decided to give it a try. He ordered the French toast breakfast and I ordered the all meat omelet breakfast. His French toast was not cooked all the way and super soggy, the eggs were fine. My omelet was fine. I asked for country gravy to be poured over it and they poured it over the potatoes instead. My toast was soggy and loaded with butter. The potatoes are cut fresh etc but absolutely no flavor. I ordered water to drink as usual and he had coffee. Half way through drinking the coffee he noticed a hard thing stuck to the inside of the cup to what looked liked the skin from a peanut or something similar. He brought it to the waitress attention and she said it is stained. A stain is not a hard piece of whatever it was. When we received our food it was not hot as it should have been because as soon as the cooks set it up on the heat lamp to be brought to our table, the waitress brought it right away, so there was no reason it was not hot.We tried it and will not...

The hostess was warm and friendly, however all we ordered was a soup and sandwich combination and a milkshake which took over 30 mins to arrive. The waitress left it on the counter for a while before bringing it to us, which was pretty strange, because there was only one other customer in the restaurant who wasn’t waiting to be served.

I was so disappointed to receive one half of a sandwich which was dry and pretty bland tasting. The soup bowl was the tiniest bowl I had ever seen. For $13.99 I expected a little more than what I got. Then came the bill which added $3.50 for chicken for the turkey sandwich I ordered. The added price for chicken didn’t make sense. When I asked the lady at the counter about it, she said the system shows the turkey as chicken. But it still didn’t make sense why I had to pay an extra $3.50 for something I didn’t order. I was already disappointed with the size of the portions and the quality of the food. I left feeling very dissatisfied and very disappointed. Don’t recommend this place and sadly won’t...

Today we order breakfast from Toast & Jam Via door dash. First experience for us from this restaurant. Our food was delivered quickly. Upon opening the bag that contained our food we were greeted with a sweet personal note from the Toast and Jam family. I was impressed with the thoughtfulness. The breakfast food was delicious. French toast was the perfect amount of fluffy & crisp. Eggs done as ordered, could of used a bit of seasoning but being able to season them to taste yourself is not a bad thing in my opinion. My son had biscuits and gravy and in his words " it was really good, the gravy was the best" I did not taste them but they looked yummy. Prices are on the spendy side but well worth it in my opinion. Good food that someone else prepared on a 110° day is almost priceless. Our family will be visiting for a dine in experience once it's available. Toast & Jam gets 100% from me. Good job guys and thank you for braving the heat to take care of the community.

That was the worst breakfast experience I've had in a restaurant that I can remember to date. The owner was our server. Most of the orders that we made came wrong even the juice for the 2 year old. We ordered pineapple juice, out came apple, we ordered medium rare steak, out came well done, we ordered bacon out came sausage. The food was horrible, overcooked omelette, the hash browns came out with more potato skin than potato and they were chewy like they had been reheated. Everything was unsalted, like completely bland. No toast came out with one order.... Which we found to be ironic since the name of the restaurant is 'Toast and Jam'. I would describe it as absolutely no care was given. It's clear to me that this is primarily a video poker establishment. The restaurant is just necessary for them to act as a casino.

Toast and jam is the best restaurant I've been to in a while. The coffee was excellent, the creamer dish was never empty and my coffee cup never was empty because the wait staff check the tables frequently. I had top sirloin steak and eggs with pancakes.the pancakes were absolutely perfect as well as the steak and eggs, the steak was so tender I couldn't believe it. My wife ordered egg's Benedict and fruit and everything was wonderful and very fresh. Very nice atmosphere and the owner and waitresses were so nice we are anxious to visit again. South Salem has a real gem of a restaurant and we are happy that we discovered it! Five stars across the board!
