Romeo's Cafe — Restaurant in Salida

An amazing find! We'd been traveling and saw Romeo's was open. I'm so glad it was! Service was very friendly and entertaining. Devin really took care of us.

The half-order of biscuits and gravy was plenty of food and smothered in thick, rich sausage gravy. I smothered my ham and cheese omelet in green chile, and it was worth it! The portion was generous and filling without overdoing it. We also got a side of hash browns that was also generous and cooked crispy. So good! The green chile was also flavorful and well spiced but not hot. Hot sauce was offered, but we didn't need it. And the coffee! Rich and tasty. We drank more than we meant to and stayed longer than we meant to because the place was fun.

Friendly family atmosphere, restaurant workers enjoying their jobs and laughing, and the best breakfast I've had in a long time. I look forward...

I’ve been eating here since it was Patio pancake. But now someone else runs it. And you can tell. I ordered an easy meal of hashbrowns, an egg and pancakes. The hashbrowns had been refried and reheated and were hard and rubbery. So I very nicely sent them back. So if the waitress is going to apologize to the cook (for sending out crappy food) and complain about the customer, maybe she should do it so the customer doesn’t hear. I took two bites of my last order (trying to see if there was a chance it was edible), but they sent me back less than half an order that was potatoes barely cooked. Obviously making their point. Now I get to make mine. 😃. Lots of better establishments to eat at! If it was worth loosing a customer because they wanted a decent bite that the customer spent hard earned money on, then...

We were hoping that since Patio Pancake was purchased there would be some semblance of their quick service and decent quality of food. Nope! Of course we realize that new restaurants need to work out the kinks with new employees etc. But it's pretty much the same menu so how hard is it to follow the classic Patio Pancake menu? Evidently pretty hard. My omelet was dry and and my gosh the hashbrowns were cold and way over cooked, incredibly dry. It looks like they're understaffed or maybe they're just slow? I don't know but the service was lousy and no one is friendly or smiles. They really need to step it up and I hope they do as they certainly should try to live up to Patio Pancake's reputation.
