Taqueria Fresnillo — Restaurant in Salina

It was my sister who got me hooked on this place! She knew it would be up my alley, serving all the good stuff! I've stated before, I could get fat drinking horchata, and this is the place where that is most likely to happen 🤣 Fresnillo is my favorite place for Mexican food in Salina! The guacamole is a generous serving, the chips are served with three different salsas, roja, verde, and picante, and all the food is filling! The selection of beverages includes offerings ranging from Sangria Señorial to Jarritos to Modelo Especial. Claro que sí, this also includes big glass bottles of frosty Mexican Coca-Cola with real sugar 😁 The place really is a nice little spot to get out of the muggy Central Kansas summer heat and cool off. For those who are looking for something other than food, the place also conveniently offers a beautiful selection of leather ware, including handmade leather belts! Just the thing to display cultural appreciation to the whole world! The building is old and the seating space is moderate at best, but I am pleased to say that Fresnillo has been holding their own in a community known for so much Mexican food!

Addendum: Dear meat eaters, This establishment has been sitting next to Kansas Wesleyan University since it opened. That means two things: One, they make a mean taco to satisfy the bellies of starving broke college students, and two, these tacos are reasonably affordable! There are days out of the week when the tacos are, I think, just one or two dollars a piece, so it's easy to get as many as you like! Food was good, some miscommunication with ordering where they didn't wrote my complete order but they were quick to rectify, however when I went to pay for that, they tried charging me double their advertised price and when questioned about it, they said the cheese sauce add-on to the enchiladas costed extra, which was fine, but not "going from $1.99 (on their board menu) to $3.99 per enchilada fine"... 2 of my kids are picky eaters and they didnt want the rice, beans, and salad that came with the cheaper plate, but it just didn't make sense that 6 plain cheese enchiladas extras were $22 when advertised price woukd have put it at $12ish plus tax.... anyway, other than prices, it was good and I wouldn't have a...

Stopped in here on a recommendation. Grabbed an order of Quesabirria tacos with corn tortillas (on the employee's recommendation). Honestly, I'm very happy with the meal. Meat was cooked well, good amount of cheese, decent portion. The tortillas were lightly crisp with good texture. They were slightly bland, but a touch of salt really elevated them to fantastic levels. Docked a star for underseasoning, but with salt at the table, this could have been a conscious decision on their part to suit the taste of more people. So yeah, highly recommended.
