La Plaza Bakery — Restaurant in Salinas

Man I hate when a good place gets either too popular for it's own good and they waver in quality or when owners sell and the new ones suck. This is an example of both. As a kid coming here i could say that the food was delicious and deserved a 5 star just in that but the people were nice too, as a kid I still remember one time walking here on my own and not having enough to buy my sweet bread and the lady winking at me and saying dont worry about it I was only like .50c off... let me try that now and I swear they will jump over that counter and beat me. Customer service has dropped significantly I'm talking genuine interest in you to they could give a rat's A*s about you. Horrible just horrible the lady's act as if you killed there dog or something so mad when you ask anything. I asked about the burrito since it was my favorite thing there and wanted to see if they used the same recipe and this lady no joke looks at me with a face like I'm stupid or something then says "it's a burrito you want it or not" wow ok so you must now care about my money then I wanted to leave but wanted my favorite burrito so I swallowed my pride and ordered anyways. To my disbelief the burrito was bad, and you know it's bad when you order a super burrito and get a wet burrito I mean this thing was like a woman after getting to shake Dwayne the rock Johnson's hand completely drenched like do they cook the asada in a pot of oil or what and it felt like after they make it in said pot of oil they pour out the entire thing oil and all on your tortilla. I make the mistake of walking up to the counter and asked if I could maybe get one that isn't dripping all over the place and this lady said "if you dont like it dont eat it" so I ask to speak to the manager to get a refund and manager denies it. Truly a sad say to know that a place I love as a kid didnt live up to what it use to be idk how or why people still come here they're wayyyy better Bakerys around town, if you want a good burrito for cheap head to La Costa on main st that is my new favorite place and it hasn't disappointed since...

I been coming to La Plaza Bakery over years already i love their chicken Milaneza it's always bomb🔥🔥never has it dissapoint me. On the other hand today when i went to pick up my order around 5:10-5:15 if im precise I don't know if it was the Boss or manager i really dislike how he was rude to his workers he didn't care if customers were their was giving them attitude to the extend that a customer was waiting for his order & he gave the customer attitute & told him to move out the way 😠 to follow the distancing which he was really distant while he wasn't even wearing the MASK ON THE RIGHT WAY i was already feeling the energy i don't know if he was having a bad day. Whatsoever, but it's definitely not okay or right he takes it out on his workers or customers!!!!! I never complaint but this was another level especially since i guess a worker accidentally drop a cookie or bread or something on the ground she was cleaning something up and he said to pay attention on what she does and pulled another one in to talk to her madly this disappointed me because i could see every girl working their nervous upset like they didn't want to be their. I appreciate the girl who smiled at me still manage to give me her best attitude even though her eyes looked sad 😔 i just think the Boss or Owner really needs to do something about this! Workers need to feel like a team not like they ain't valued or mean anything! Im sorry but that guy who like i said don't know if his the manager or boss needs to change his behavior also PUT HIS MASK ON THE RIGHT WAY!!!!! Not half way like he puts it. Great amounts of food. Weekends specials. Price is reasonable and affordable. Parking is limited with in the perimeter unless you go to the surrounding businesses. Safe and secure during the day, at night be alert of surroundings; Needs better lighting.

I would say the morning are the busiest but service is fast,speedy, quick But friendly and welcoming. Have your order ready in mind so you wont frustrate the employee and delay people in line.Never felt rushed to place order. Kitchen does have a significant amount of workers who are more than capable with doing their task.

One of the favorite bites to have are Tortas. Variety of meats and a plethora of bread. Burritos, Coffe and freshly made juice. ( Green Mix , orange or beet) You can ask for Tortas to be grilled. Tacos also feasible.

If you crave variety of sustenance in the morning get there early ( does have great open up time 5 am) No matter what part of town you are located at your time there are 3 location in Salinas including some in other near by town. A definite Local favorite for years past...
