We got off to a bumpy start. I came in with a coupon that the lady at the counter seemed unfamiliar with. She checked with the boss..all good. Someone was leaning on the menu which is not posted overhead. She seemed to expect me to be ready so I blurted out 'taco salad.' She said al pastor? and in the interest of keeping things moving I said yes. While I was looking at the milkshakes she gave me the total. Looked annoyed that I wasnt done. No offer of a drink or churro. (Realizing now it was change of shift, some overlap and gaps, and I'm hearing the counter guy offering everything.) That said, this place is fantastic! The employees are working hard, having fun, singing and dancing along to the music. Taco salad was exceptional--cheese on the bottom, layers of rice, beans, spicy chicken, crisp lettuce. I only mention because it was a little surprise when I finally found the bottom! It was delicious and I'll def be back, but I'll check the menu first!

I had perhaps the most magical tacos of my life at Chunga's. I don't know exactly what it was, but I do know that I eat a fair few tacos every week, and only very rarely do they even come close to this. If I were a betting man — and let's be clear; I'm not — I'd bet that it's the salsa they use in each taco. It was just spicy enough, very flavorful, and an excellent consistency with the meat. I understand there are more options than mere tacos, but next time I go, I'm getting the tacos again. And every time after that. I won't even hesitate. My only complaint with Chunga's is that it, at current, is only open three days a week. If I feel the itch on a Monday, I'm out of luck. On a Saturday, I'll just have to find something else. On a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday? That's the sweet spot. Gaze upon the tacos below. One is not actually a taco, though. It's a sope. I didn't eat it, but my friend said it was delicious. I trust him, but those tacos...

We were planning on going to Red Iguana, but a 45 minute wait was beyond our timeframe (had a waxing appt rapidly approaching). We searched and found Chunga’s, luckily around the corner, it was just down the street (watch out for the homeless dog on the way, they’re monsters). Wow, our first time @ Chunga’s they gave us free drinks, a free sombrero, gave my daughter a Quinceañera, and the food was WAY better than McDonalds too! Can’t wait to see what happens on the second visit, free beer and a pony?? Great customer service (I always call customer service to verify they’re not robots) and I loved the enchiladas (didn’t get them, but watched the other customers eat them, and they looked happy, most of them at least). And it was way faster than FedEx too!

Yikes. I ordered online, and the email that I got said that it would be ready to pick-up in 30 minutes. So I got there on time, only to see that there was a line of at least 10 people who had ordered even earlier than me and were still waiting to be served. I decided to wait patiently. I came on May 5, so everybody wants tacos and it is not unreasonable to wait. But I began to notice that people who had arrived and ordered in person were getting their food. After an hour of waiting, I talked to the girl at the counter. She looked up my order and said that the order had not yet been confirmed. I showed her my receipt, and she explained that when they get on online order they have to confirm or deny the order, but she told me that she had done neither. They were apparently just ignoring the orders because they were busy. She asked me if I would like to cancel, which a few people in front of me had done. I explained that I would like my food. She said it would be at least 20 minutes, so I waited in my car for about 15 minutes, then came inside and got my food after about 15 minutes of waiting inside. I decided to make a point, and I politely complained that it's not acceptable to take 2 hours to fulfill an order. I asked to see the manager about getting my meal comped, (I'm not the type of person who requests this, like ever, because I have worked in the restaurant industry and I have sympathy). The poor girl tried multiple times to get the manager to come talk to me, but the manager refused. The manager was working in the kitchen in plain sight, and she wouldn't make eye contact with me. She would just yell a jumble of Spanish and wave the girl away. The girl kept trying to make excuses, saying that my order had been ready for 30 minutes and that she had been calling my name. I couldn't believe she would make this claim, since she clearly told me 30 minutes ago that the order hadn't even been started. At this point I settled to just get my tip refunded, which I still had to fight for. Chunga's wasted a lot of my time, but worst of all they didn't show a single shred of common professionalism or responsibility when I tried to give them the chance to do so. Instead of an apology for lousy service, they gave me bullcrap excuses. I got my food in the end, but I'm not even sure if it tasted good because I was too emotionally salty. This is the only restaurant I have ever been to where I have had such a bad experience that I will not consider going back. Customer satisfaction means literally...

OMG. I finally found a place to have wonderful, affordable, delicious,REAL Mexican food in SLC! I wandered in to Chunga's one day and I have kept coming back almost every week. It's not much to look at...but the food makes up for the decor. The owner is there everyday with a smile and all of the employee are working hard to serve up some awesome food. I haven't tried the Tacos El Pastor....yet. But I hear only good things about it (Pineapple & Pork....yum!). I'm way too hooked on the chicken enchilada's right now and I will probably be eating those for a while....cuz it's amazing! The service is quick and always served with a smile and friendly small talk. The prices are GREAT....really, I think it's very reasonably considering that they only use high quality food products and don't skimp on anything. If I had one little complaint it would be that they don't have pinto beans. only black beans....which are good, but I would prefer pinto beans. But the BEST part is the rice! Thank you Chunga's for NOT putting peas & carrots in your rice (cuz that's super yucky!) I LOVE the sauces and the whole pieces of chicken breast they use in the enchilada's The cheeses are great and the chips and salsa are delicious. This will be THE Salt Lake destination once word gets out! Hurry in to Chunga's and order up the BEST Mexican...

My family had never ordered here before. So today we did the online order. We placed our order on their website at 7:05pm. I got an email saying our order should be ready by 7:50pm. When I got there at 7:51 to pick up our order the place looked small, but clean and the cashier was talking to a customer on the phone. When she was done on the phone I explained that I was there too pick up my order and when she found it I was told the person from the shift before never printed the receipt. So our order was never placed. They told me it would be another 20 minutes before we'd get out food. I finally just gave up and asked to cancel the order. The cashier was very helpful. That being said I was getting very frustrated because I kept being told I needed to cancel my order on their app while I kept repeating I didn't place my order on the app I placed it on their website and couldn't cancel the order from there. An older lady working on orders didn't seem to happy about me asking them to cancel it, but I'm glad at least the cashier was nice and willing to help me cancel the order. I guess if there is a next time I should place the order then call to make sure my order gets placed. So far the only reason why they deserve 2 stars is because of how professional the cashier acted and how clean...
