A gem in the rough of Salt Lake.

Whoever knew about this tiny little secret mom-and-pop Mexican restaurant -and did NOT share- should be hung from their toes and made to snuff the delicious, homestyle, very authentic Mexican food and not be allowed to eat any.

The location.

The tiny restaurant is about the size of my bedroom, painted in bright colors and loaded with positive energy. The owners- a husband and wife team who work very well together create the most amazing deliciousness in traditional dishes. It's not finesse or aesthetics for which you come here to eat these dishes; it is the relaxing "I just walked into Abuela's dining room and we are about to eat...a LOT" feeling and atmosphere.

We found this place by accident, too, searching for another Mexican restaurant. We won't be searching anymore.

The service.

The order was taken swiftly by the smiling and very friendly wife, who was so sweet! She knew I did not speak Spanish well, but waited patiently and when I switched to English she was so shy, but still got our order correct. Perfect in fact.

The husband delivered our food as if we were the most important people in the world, making us feel special. And, something that surprised me, his etiquette: as if we were in a fine dining restaurant, never once did he reach over our food or get into our personal space. He was polite, fast, quiet and respectful. To all the diners.

The food.

Try...everything. It is all good. We had the asada burrito and enchiladas. My enchiladas came with 2 eggs over-easy. Just like the first restaurant in which I first ordered Mexican. The plate was literally LARGER THAN MY FRIEND'S WAIST!!!

And, it smelled so delicious, tasting even better.

Results:

This is a repeat for sure, it's the first one I am going to say deserves to be ritual. And ritual is shall become once I take my entire team from work here. Can't...

Julias is the best restaurant i have been to.Hands down there customer service is amazing. Ive eaten there a few times but i was blown away tonight. Not only is it hard to get treated decently in this part of salr lake when your white. Most treat us like scum on there shoes. But not at juluas. Very nice treat you with respect and smiles. Then i wanted carne asada fries wich is not on there menu. But the cook could see i wantes them and said he could make them if i could wait ten minutes. That alone was awesome! People dont go above and beyond the call of duymuch in these times. I really appreciate that. But the topper was these were the best carne asada fries i have ever had the privalage of eating. And there the same price as betos. I will never be able to eat them from a betos again. Julias is the place to go..amazing food amazing staff you cant ask for anything better then that. I scored them a 5 because 10 want an option. My words cant do justice to this experience..i recommend you try it..you will love it and be a regular customer there after. Thanks so much julias. Your always a ten in my...

I had the pleasure of dining at Julia's Mexican Restaurant and I have to say, it was a truly outstanding experience. The house special pork ribs dish was the standout dish of the night - it was cooked to perfection and the meat was so tender that it practically fell off the bone. The flavor was simply amazing, with just the right amount of spice. The rice and beans that came with the pork ribs were also fantastic. The rice was cooked to perfection and had a wonderful texture, and the beans were perfectly seasoned and had just the right amount of creaminess. The combination of the pork ribs with the rice and beans was just perfect, and it made for an incredibly satisfying meal. Overall, I would highly recommend Julia's Mexican Restaurant to anyone who loves great food and a welcoming atmosphere. The house special pork ribs dish is an absolute must-try, and the rice and beans are the perfect complement to the dish. If you're looking for a delicious and authentic Mexican dining experience in Salt Lake City, Julia's is definitely the place to be!

What a cozy little restaurant. Went in and instantly felt we went south of the border. The atmosphere had an authentic feel and full of personality. There was no wait and it was seat yourselves wherever you want. The service was quick and brought some of the best chips and salsa we think we have ever had while we waited for our order. Ordering was fast and the food arrived very quick. The servings was very generous for the low price point. Never had a Mexican coke before, but there is an obvious true coke flavor that is better than the American high fructose version. It was off the beaten track and it's a gem to visit. We will be going back.
