Sumo

There are two signs on the ceiling pointing down with arrows. One above the cash register “pay here” and one about 6 feet to the left that says “pick up here”. I paid at the cash register then took my kids to the bathroom and came back. I had taken a bit so I was worried I might be forgotten, so I stood right by the pick up here sign. I watched as they took a half dozen different additional orders. I then turned around to patiently supervise my children while we waited, and waited and waited. I didn’t think much of it. My kids were behaving and I was happy to wait. I understand it takes time to fry chicken and fries. I was standing at the front where sushi was being prepared and the guy rolling the sushi said something to me. I stepped forward because I couldn’t hear him. “Can you not stand there?” I was confused… “ you don’t want me to stand here?” I looked up at the sign. I was standing a little to the left of it, but I was basically where it told me to stand. He explained that he didn’t like the way I was “awkwardly standing there” he said, “I’m just trying to work here”, as if my standing there was some how slowing him down or something.” I looked around and I could see there was allot of orders. I said nothing and just moved to the right under the sign. He continued to glare at me so I backed way up to the back of the store. This was weird, and I was just going to shrug it off since clearly he was stressed. No big deal, then I watched as each of the half dozen orders got filled while I waited with my kids who grew more and more impatient. I feel like I was given our food last as retaliation for where I was standing. I get that the food industry is stressful, so his bad attitude is understandable, but the cold burnt food made me wonder what else is done to retaliate. As convenient this restaurant location is, I’m not sure I feel safe to order here again…
