Dog friendly* I cannot say enough good things about this spot. Jacob, thank you! Jacob, the owner, is a class act. My wife and I were driving across the country from California to Florida, and we were looking for a good Mexican restaurant. We have an 11.5 lb pug who was injured during this drive. By the time we found Big Poppas, we were so tired, hangry, and exhausted.

Jacob, his mom, and his sister saw our pug and immediately bent over backwards to make us and our injured dog comfortable. My wife and I spent a long time chatting with Jacob. This experience literally re-energized us on our road trip.

The Mexican food is incredible! I got a tostada and my wife got the mini-tacos. Soooooo good. I was licking my fingers afterwards. They also were kind enough to sell us just chicken for our injured pug and brought us water for her. We had the chicken and the steak, both of which were fantastic.

On top of finger licking good Mexican food, the culture and vibe of this place and the family who owns it makes any experience here top notch. I feel so lucky that the wife and I stumbled upon this place on our cross-country trip. Between the delicious food, the warm environment, and the art, this place is good for your soul.

Oh yeah...the art. You need to go there to see it for yourself. Meaningful art that's relevant to the community.

We will be back here over and over when we come back to TX. Thank you, Jacob and familly! We also stand...

OK ppl, I came all the way frm Dallas Texas, to try Big Poppas and man was I NOT disappointed. This trip was strickly to try and Critic foods around San Antonio TX within restaurants, Stands, food trucks and spots as I am a Blogger. This spot was number 4 on my list to try and Im upset I didn't have this as my number 1 spot because that's how good it was. Number 1 place you should stop by if your a traveling foodie as I am, and if your a local then, what are you doing reading this, GO, RUN, GO GET YOU SOME. You local folks are so lucky to be a part of San Antonio best local spots in my book " Big Poppas Taco" Another thing, Service was excellent, great staff ( guys) working there are so welcoming and friendly. It's a small eat in area but I'd eat this Standing, sitting, upside down or on the middle of a hot Texas Day in a parking lot. Anywhere, anytime Go to Big Poppas. A special SHOUT OUT to DAVID, a young man working and going that extra mile to make you feel welcomed and making sure your good while enjoying your meal. That's a keeper outstanding...

Me and my family came to this place after seeing on the news that it was good food we pull up there were kids riding bikes with no shirts all around the place. we go in order the lady that took our order was kinda rude more like hurry up and order kind of face didn't say hi or smile while waiting for our food they had friends or family walking in and out of the kitchen when they felt like people just standing in the back very un professional. When a guy brought our food he was the only one with a smile and said enjoy. The food was bland no flavor and wasn't all that like the news said wouldn't spend almost ten bucks on a burrito that didn't taste good and. 75 cents on a can of soda. This was my first and last time going on a place that food had no taste family members coming in and out of the kitchen (which is unsanitary) and having kids run around the building with no shirts and people standing out on the side of the building like if there at...

Here's a nice picture of my burrito... pretty looking. That's about all I liked about it. I was hyped up to try this because I really liked the spicy Cheetos concept from seeing a lot of reviews and photos. Buuuuut, I ended up feeling let down because it mostly tasted like rice and flour tortilla. It seemed like 9% meat, 1% cheese , 90% carbs I don't remember tasting cheese maybe because not much was inside. I originally wanted to put 1 stars but I added another star because I honestly enjoy and appreciate creativity for using the spicy Cheetos. Overrated, in my opinion... I had to use a lot of sauce to finish my burrito... Burrito not worth $8.50 for all that rice filling... But it's ok if you really like alot of rice in your burrito. Everyone's got different tastes! 🙂 The sauces were good tho! The place used to be a house. The dining area is ok... Kinda small. Parking is limited. I also included a pic of their menu. 2018.08.23
