Bill Miller BBQ — Restaurant in San Antonio

The food at Bill Miller’s has never been great, but it’s always been good so the review is based on the food, but the subpar service my husband and I received.

We placed an order online for pick up and when we arrived, we were handed our food and then our tea, but had to wait to ask for our dessert. As we stood there waiting, we watched two guys fix the two go sign, one of the guys went back to washing his dishes while the other started cutting meat. A girl walked up to the counter three different times without asking if we had been helped or if we needed anything. The so-called “ Manager” saw us standing at the counter, but continued to make sandwiches instead of asking if we needed anything or delegating for someone else to take over. I finally had to Ask the young lady who came up to the counter one last time if someone could help us because I was getting very tired of waiting. The young man that was cutting the meat, mumbled under his breath, Reluctantly took off his gloves and then asked “oh did you need something?”

We told him we were waiting for our dessert and we noticed the dessert we ordered wasn’t even on the line. He spoke to his manager, who said, “oh if it’s a DoorDash, then tell them to call because we’re out” She didn’t look over to us, she didn’t acknowledge, and so he came, gave us one of our pies and told us the other was out, but we could call The customer to change it. WE WERE THE CUSTOMER!

I know what it is like to work at a fast food establishment and things get frustrating, but this was merely a lack of management, delegation, and communication.

It saddens me when I have to go back and delete previous positive reviews to update in service quality declined. 4:30 pm on a Sunday, busy drive thru, so I went inside.

I witnessed crosscontamination of coleslaw and something else next to it because the guy used the same scoop, and with the rice and potato salad - I brought it to the man in a red shirts attention and he semi corrected the other staff doing the crosscontamination but then I witnessed it again. Along with the same guy in red shirt attempting to correct me about crosscontamination only being if he had used meat items to refrigerated items 😲 uhm NO - When a restaurant uses the same utensil for different foods, it's called cross-contamination; this is because potentially harmful bacteria from one food item can transfer to another when using the same utensil, posing a food safety risk. MY personal fear would be had I been the one getting the potato salad that you scooped after the onion laced rice it could seriously have killed me I am allergic to onion and had already explained that to the other server that I asked to change his gloves. Yes, a risk I take by eating out in the first place, but trained staff make for a potentially safe eating experience. Horrible service did not acknowledge me when I came up to the counter to order I mean at least tell me that you’re gonna be with me until I cleared my throat was when the girl finally turned around which I know she knew I was there. The manager is on the other side, watching two other workers doing something on the other side of the counter. The manager saw me cause he’s got a different shirt on that’s why I think he was the manager a reddish orange shirt. I don’t know, but he could’ve took my order. But did he know he didn’t he just kept on trying to look down at the two other workers that’s on the other side of the counter try not to pay attention to me when the girl finally said I’ll be with you in a minute. I waited a couple minutes, but then I left cause that should’ve never taken that long at all. It was a simple order but now they lost my business because I left I did not want to wait they didn’t provide good service. They didn’t acknowledge me. This one is for parent Beitel.

.I ordered 1 bacon, potato and egg & 1 bean & cheese.. I got 2 bacon, potato & egg tacos instead! Ugh now if I come here I’ll be paranoid and now have to double check my order.. it wasn’t even busy at all! ?? Disappointed 😔

And the tacos weren’t that good something...
