We came to Chagos on a random recommendation. We arrived right as they opened at 10am and were warmly greeted by the staff. We asked for recommendations and decided on the menudo and Chagos combo with sides of fideo. They brought us chips and salsa as well. The fideo was delicious and well balanced. We could taste the layers of flavor in the broth. The red salsa was good, but green salsa took the prize for best of the two. It had a wonderful creaminess in the flavor and was the right amount of spice. The entree was next and the plates did not disappoint. The Chagos combo has two crumbled cheese enchiladas, two beef flautas in a green sauce with crumbled cheese on top, a Gordita, with your choice of two meats (we chose chicharron), rice, charro beans, seasoned potatoes and carrots, and lettuce and tomato salad. The charro beans were excellent with great depth of flavor. The rice was nicely done and not overpowering with excessive tomato sauce. The flautas and enchiladas were so good, but when combined with the green salsa, the rice, flautas and enchiladas went up another notch. The menudo was amazing as well with great seasoning that was well balanced. Dessert was a great way to finish off the meal with the churros brining crunchy and sweet flavors as should be. My husband said the arroz con leche took him to a different place that reminded him of his abuelita. The hospitality matched the food with attentiveness and knowledge of the menu. Everyone was just so nice here. You feel appreciated as a customer here. The restaurant is very clean with nice music that is not too loud and a couple of TVs showing different shows for people like me addicted to TV. We ordered food to go as well (barbacoa mini tacos and the pambazo) since this place was so great. We highly recommend and will definitely...
Read moreThis place is total trash. I knew this place was of very low quality, but a group wanted to go there to eat. I really didn't want to go ,but the majority was ok with it and our guest wanted to try somewhere new. And this place did not fail to what was expected, the food sucked as usual. The fideo soup or what it really is, salt water with noodles was terrible (Pro tip: when salt is not working, don't add more salt! Use an acid like vinegar or limes). I ordered the hotdog as it was the cheapest thing on the menu, and it was crusty and eventhough it had a whole bunch of things on it, it still tasted bland. And the service was worse that the food. The waitress never came by to see if we wanted drink refills or anything. I guess since I opted for the tap water rather than the bottled water that they sell for, they were not interested. They also stuck me with a gratuity charge for multiple people, eventhough the checks were split and my check was for 4 people. So be on the look out for that. The only thing there that was OK was the chips that they probably opened from a bag. So the next time you have a desire for real mexican food, keep driving and avoid this place like an overpriced...
Read moreI'll start out by saying food and service was good however my daughter and I got sick from the lemonade. I know it was the lemonade because my daughter refused to eat the food and she only drank the lemonade. While we were there it tasted fine, we took it to go since we didn't finish it. I immediately felt sick, my daughter was vomiting once home. We didn't know what made us sick then, since we felt bad we went to sleep. The lemonade was left on the kitchen table, once we woke up I got thirsty and decided to sip it. The taste was bad and it had a rancid smell. I make my own lemonade, and I've purchased it made from many places. Neeeever have I experienced a rancid smell from it sitting out in our home for a couple hours. We keep our house cool, so it's not like it was out in the sun. Eventhough the food was fine it makes me wonder how long they're keeping their food/drinks...
