Had just finished dinner next door to Duck Donuts and decided to take some home to my kids. My husband and I walked in and the three employees just kind of glanced up at us and one of the employees quickly said, "we close in 6 minutes". I immediately responded by saying, "Great, we got here just in time". The three girls seemed a bit frustrated as we tried to figure out what we wanted to purchase. My husband then asked, "Do you guys have any coffee". Their immediate response was, "We took all the coffee to the back". That didn't sit very well with him, so he got frustrated and walked out! I, on the other hand, asked one of the girls, "what time exactly does your store close". One responded, "7". I then, said, so you stop serving coffee before you close? She said yes. I said, out of curiosity, "What time is that exactly". One of the girls said, "6:50". So, bottom line...they close when they want and stop serving when they want even though their website and door sign say Open til 7. I think everyone would agree with me, especially the owner, that in times like these, you don't turn away a paying customer. Every customer counts. If your hours display Open til 7, then every product should still be sold! You walk into any large department store, they don't stop selling you their product because it's almost quitting time. They may close the doors behind you if it's past their closing time, but they still service your needs. You're the customer and they're getting paid to provide a service! I only continued my purchase because I promised my kids donuts. Next time, I'll be heading to Super Donuts on Shanefield! Great service and...
Read moreUPDATE for 8/29/2022: The service was so much better! I upped the rating to 5 stars because of this. Madison and Melanie were friendly and patient, and it didn’t seem like anything unusual for them to be that way. The difference in them compared to the two workers’ attitudes during our previous visit was like day and night. And the previous employees didn’t act like it was just an exceptionally bad day. Those previous workers sound like the same people another commenter recently described as acting like they are slaves in a Russian gulag.
Maybe you should reward the good employees (one of whose pictures is in another commenter’s review) somehow. Give them a cash bonus or something.
And of course, again, the donuts were totally amazing!
PREVIOUS REVIEW: We went about a month to a month and a half ago. The maple bacon style is the best tasting donut— not only the best cake donut— I’ve ever had in my life. So amazing I could eat two and probably still not experience the law of diminishing returns. I also had one with the peach cobbler topping. It was good, but disappointing only compared to the maple bacon. That was just magnificent. Well done!!
The employees seemed totally bored and wishing they could get back to playing video games or something. Moved so slowly. No greeting of any kind. They could obviously care less. This is why it’s only a...
Read moreTheir donuts are so good, but sadly their customer service is abysmal. I placed an order days in advance. On the day of, 5 minutes before the curbside time , I called ahead (something they didn’t even ask me to do). I was already on my way when I called. They never called or reached out to me prior to this call.. other than to take my money and confirm my order. While on this call, they informed me my order would not be ready for another 30 minutes. No apologies from them or anything… I informed them I could be flexible.. so could they have the order at ready at 6:30 or 7 instead. They said “we can’t guarantee anything all I can say is either wait for whenever your order is ready or ask for a refund”. I told them I was leaving town to bring the donuts to family so I would need a prospective time so I could grab them on the way.. (again not part of my original plan for the day).. they basically told me “too bad”. No offers to make it right or apologies just be ready at their beck and call? Insane. I was hyping these donuts up to everyone and planning on bringing them to a family event.. but not more. Not worth it to spend money at a place that treats you like garbage. Better off with.. shipleys , Crumbl, tiffs, baskin Robbins, cold stone or the other 100s of place in the area that will most likely treat customers with a...
