Prepare to be enchanted by the culinary wizardry and impeccable service of Stonewerks in San Antonio, TX, where every visit promises a symphony of flavors and a dash of pure delight. Amidst the vibrant tapestry of their offerings—pizza that sings with local charm, beers that dance on the palate, and sandwiches that whisper tales of comfort—stands a beacon of hospitality named John, our spirited guide through a culinary adventure. From the moment we crossed the threshold of Stonewerks, John dazzled us with his savoir-faire and effervescent charm. His demeanor, akin to a maestro conducting a gastronomic opera, ensured that every interaction was as seamless as the dough of their famed pizzas. With each recommendation, John painted a vivid tableau of flavors, pairing local brews with the nuanced notes of their prime rib egg rolls—a dish that defies gravity with its crispy exterior and succulent filling. John's charisma is matched only by his encyclopedic knowledge of the menu, effortlessly guiding us through a plethora of delectable choices. His passion for hospitality is palpable, transforming a mere meal into a transcendent experience. Whether he was deftly recommending the perfect sandwich or regaling us with tales of the local culinary scene, John epitomized the soul of Stonewerks—an oasis where food and fellowship intertwine seamlessly. As we savored each bite of our meal, John's attentive presence added a layer of warmth to the already inviting ambiance. His genuine enthusiasm for both the cuisine and our dining experience was infectious, elevating our evening from ordinary to extraordinary. In John, Stonewerks has found not just a waiter, but a custodian of culinary dreams—an ambassador of taste and conviviality. In conclusion, Stonewerks in San Antonio is not merely a restaurant; it is a testament to the artistry of food and the transformative power of exceptional service. And in the luminary figure of John, patrons are treated not just to a meal, but to a symphony of flavors orchestrated with finesse and flair. Prepare to be spellbound by Stonewerks and their maestro of hospitality—John—an experience that transcends mere dining and becomes an unforgettable journey through the senses.

My girlfriend and I were craving our favorite menu item, street tacos. Off we went and were seated immediately, but we asked for a different booth because the seat was worn and torn. The host led us to another booth with the same issue and after he dropped us off, we changed over to the next booth as it was still in relatively good condition. Our waiter came to greet us and she offered us menus and time to look them over while she brought some water. But we craved a cocktail and we were offered no cocktail menu, so my partner walked to a recently emptied table to grab one. We had a different waiter bring the water and take our drinks and app order. Either a mix-up with the table assignments or because we changed booths. Really no biggie, just surprised us. In the end, I just ordered a Dos Equis, but my partner had a wonderful Mexican Martini (I had the spicy olives). For our app, we decided on sweet chili brussel sprouts which were delicious. Tender, spicy, and sweet. And of course for our entrees, we ordered the street tacos with borracho beans. I chose the steak fajita and my girlfriend the grilled shrimp. We traded one for the other on one of the 3 tacos. They were very flavorful and we've always enjoyed them. One distraction was the corn tortillas were not grilled, but right out of the package. This makes them very non-pliable and they broke right from the git-go. I ended up just eating my filling and leaving the tortilla behind. If I had a say, I'd ask for my tortillas to be grilled first before preparing the tacos. The beans borracho were delicious as always with a little kick of heat and chunks of bacon. We will always go back when the craving strikes us, but we're hoping some effort is taken to replacing the torn seats in the booths and giving the tortillas that little sear to keep all those delicious ingredients intact. Shout out to our server John for his attentiveness and patience. Photos By Lily Martinez.

Went here during the St. Patrick Day and it was cool to see how much this place prepare for that event. They had an outside sitting and chicken grilling. The place was cozy, you can either sit outside or inside. During our visit there was a wait time to sit outside so we opted to just sit inside. We ordered Prime Rib Egg Roll, Louisiana "Char-Grilled" Oysters and "Big Rock" Bacon and Smoked Gouda Burger. We LOVED the Prime Rib Egg Roll - the dip was really a good sit with this appetizer. The Oyster was really good aside from there are still small shell in it so if you have issues with that (like me) I do have braces and I was not advised of this experience - be careful having this food BUT again it was GOOD. I just hope that if this is a normal scenario they will let the customer know about it. For the burger - there was no really special to it, we were expecting to have more taste that what it was. It was also funny that their crew at that time (which was our server) does not know what was happening in their restaurant, - I think that is one of the reasons I am giving this review a 3 stars the other reason was the oyster shell. Overall, I will still go back because the food was still good it just that the experience can be better if we have this advance comms and a server that knows what's their restaurant can offer.

I've been to this location a handful of times...i never expect stellar service since covid...no big deal. Ive just noticed waiters/waitress dont give a f and just expect a tip. Its their livelihood...im a decent tipper. As long as you check in once in a while, keep my water filled (even just for the most part) im ok. Service positions suck. I'm not a high maintenance individual when it comes to service from a waitstaff but today was one of the worst experiences I've ever had. I won't be returning due to this particular day and experience. Here's a recap of my service.. We went in around 330pm on a Saturday. We were seated promptly by the hostess. Fyi the "Manager" needs to reassess what is "acceptable attire for a hostess" they were all dressed inappropriately as asian fetish high school students. A black button down and slacks should be the standard/expection...its common sense. Maybe they were told to dress like that idk...but unprofessional...plus they had to be high-school students at best... I could let that go but had to mention due to my overall experience...

We waited over 20 min to be addressed by our waiter with a 1/4 filled resturant... we almost got up and left.

I had hoped after we were addressed they it would start to take a turn for the better. And it almost did.

We waited another 10 min for just water which was brought to just one of us...common sense and per previous experiences all parties get water...and our drinks.

She then took our appetizer order and main course which came out in a timely manner. The food was as expected for stonewerks so no complaints there.

Our waitress checked in twice as we were eating but the check ins were so spaced out. We were eventually waiting for her to do one more check in so we could pay and get boxes for our food.

We waited 30 plus minutes until we finally saw her and were able to waive her down finally! She passed by our table and never checked in multipe times. She was going to skip over our table again after checking on her other tabels had we not waived her down.

Honestly it seemed most (not all) of the wait staff seemed more preoccupied with screwing off at the back vs. Serving anyone...again we weren't expecting any stellar service. Just bare minumum...

I has enough and asked my husband to handle the tip. I was infuriated and was borderline not going to leave one (horrible I know).

Honestly I think the waitress was high and or on drugs with how exacerbated she seemed with such a small amount of people to serve.

We will never go back to this location and i wont besurprised when it closes due to the management and quality of its surrounding and superior...

Edit on 4/10/2021 Aaron S. (Director of Operations), reached out to me to apologize for our experience. While it doesn't change how my birthday dinner, I always respect anyone that tries to make things right and acknowledge when things don't go well. That alone makes up three stars and I will be going back to try Stone Werks again. Thank you Aaron for reading my review and caring about the customer experience.

Original One Star Review Below The wait for a table was about 40 minutes for a party of 8. As I understood it there was a party hovering and they didn't want to overburden the cooks in the back. Not really an issue but I want to be as transparent as possible in the review.

Once seated 3 people in our party were not asked for their drink order and were delivered waters. It was fixed on the second go around when the initial drinks were delivered. Mistakes happen, it was fixed, no problem.

We ordered our food and it took about 40 minutes to receive it, one plate had to be sent back due to concern of pink chicken. Another plate never made it to the table, a server dropped the food on the way to the table and wasn't delivered to the table until everyone else was pretty much done eating. To top it off, only half the meal was delivered and we still had to wait for the rest. It's understandable that things happen, but the burger took way too long to be remade.

After all of this I asked for a courtesy adjustment, the food took too long and there was an issue with two plates. I did not push the problems but politely requested there be some kind of accommodation for our experience for a $200~ (tip included) bill.

We received a $1.40 adjustment for the trouble; while I realize I'm not entitled to anything and that things happen, the subpar experience combined with such a small discount made us feel like we didn't even matter as customers. I would have preferred no adjustment instead of what amounts to not even a soda in refund, like adding insult to injury.

I would not recommend Stonewerks for hospitality or prompt service. However, the food itself was fairly good, I can't speak for the rest of my party but my meal was delicious. I also appreciated that when one our masks broke they offered one to replace it.

I waited a day to review and think on it to write it as fair a review as possible. Hopefully your experience goes better than ours should you...
