El Valle Fruiteria, Restaurant, & Bar — Restaurant in San Antonio

With pain and regrets I have to give it a 2 star. This has been my favorite "real mexican" restaurant for years until yesterday. I dont know why they changed their ingredients. Im talking about the enchiladas rojas or how I know them since childhood "enchiladas callejeras". Im from the border knowing about the different tastes of Tamaulipas frontera, Nuevo Laredo and Laredo, TX. I moved to SA 15 yrs ago, which I came to love and now is my hometown by heart. The only difference here is that "mexican" is nothing but tex-mex. It took me a while to find a good mexican restaurant. Los Valles was it!! Is rare that a restaurant has good enchiladas and I don't mean "cheese" enchiladas. The enchiladas el Valle WERE made of chile cascabel or as some call it chile de arbol. It does not have any tomato sauce or paste. This is what el Valle provided me with yesterday...chile cascabel with tomato. Bland taste.😔 Might as well call it entomatadas which that's how they tasted.The authentic mex flavor is gone. Why? O why of this change?! This was the only reason I came to this place. With pain in my heart, I will have to take it off my list. I can easily do real mex enchiladas at home, but it was nice to once in a while take a break and just go sit and enjoy the mexican flavor of chile and queso fresco in your mouth. NOT LGBT FRIENDLY to begin with. Being so close to downtown and how times are really changing lgbt fam I don’t recommend coming here. Let’s start with I had I ordered 2 simple tacos rajas and chicharrón not a Gordita or a plate that there’s a 20 min wait for it . And two aguas frescas . Which I even asked can i order here because they didn’t have the best customer service to begin with. She’s like yes so my order was two simple tacos and two aguas frescas . This ladies act like we haven’t worked in a restaurant that what’s the point of ordering togo if their response is “ we get the orders” how we get them “ which I I had asked for an ETA on 20 min waiting there was no people when k got there it was berly getting busy there was no need of the lady and her response on me asking 20 min for two tacos they didn’t even hand me my aguas . When I asked for my money back magically the two tacos are ready . I had to ask for my order I asked for my cash back instead . I really like eating here. There is a lot of seats and the cars come park right in front of you. There is strategy though when you go. You need another person because you can only order tacos in the taco line and fruit in the fruit line. You can get dessert in the fruit line. The lines are long but do not worry. The staff works hard to get you your food and they cut the fruit in front of you too. They have fruit cups made but they like to be ready for more people so they cut more fruit. The tacos are bigger than before. I do not like that but I understand. It if probably difficult to make those tacos. They messed up though because people like smaller things and can call them cute. You can't call these tacos cute. The drinks are really big and you need to be ready to eat the fruit while you drink it. Do not save fruit for end. This is for the drinks with fruit in it. If you drink the liquid and save the fruit and eat it after the fruit may get warm and I do it like the taste of fruit covered in sugar getting warm. If the ice melts you are really in trouble because it may go bad fast. It has a lot of sugar so be careful and make sure you check and estimate correctly how high your sugar may go. If you take insulin those drinks will throw you off. They are...
