Today, 2/25/24 I went and ordered 4 sopes (papa roja, picadillo, asado, and chicharron) and 1 Jamaica drink to-go. They asked me if I wanted the drink while I waited and I said yes; I walked outside with the rest of the people waiting. During my first sip of Jamaica I started chocking--I was probably chocking for about 5 minutes. NOBODY reached out to help and while I was chocking I dropped my drink, the cup broke, and the Jamaica went everywhere (my shirt, shoes, and the ground). I wasn't gonna ask for another drink bc it was my fault and I was a little embarrassed. But when I was called for my order and drove all the way home, I found that they gave me a rajas sope instead of papa roja and the picadillo sope has 2 hairs. I drove back--for the inconvinience and hopefully their kindness, I asked if they could replace my drink. They told me it was none of their business that I had dropped the drink and that they were only gonna take care of the sopes. I was kind of thrown off because I was being very respectful and had literally chocked on THEIR drink outside of their door. I guess word had got around about what had happened outside when I chocked bc the kitchen staff started talking about "oh that was the girl..." and one of the kitchen workers asked a server to get me the drink. That's when the owner walked in and told me that it wasn't their business that I dropped my drink. I had accepted it and tell her that that's disappointing because it was my favorite restaurant and they couldn't do a simple nice thing for their customer, especially after chocking for so long, with no help, at the property... she was clearly annoyed (without even knowing the context) and cut me off before finishing my sentence, told a server to hand me the drink (with an attitude), and walked off. That lady had been there for the day for maybe 5 mins and she was already in the defense mode. I understand some customers are rude but I was being respectful. At the end of the day, they didn't have to give me a drink, I know, but it was something nice to do for another human who had an incident. The fact that the owner was so rude and told me it wasn't just the drink she was going to have to give me but also the cup, straw, and lid even though I had to drive back bc they got my order wrong, is not good customer service. To MAKE THINGS WORSE, when I got home with the second order, it was still WRONG. I changed the picadillo into asado because of the hair but was still looking forward to the papa roja...which they got wrong AGAIN and gave me pork??? I didn't even call or drive back at that point... just very disappointed because it was my fav restaurant in SA and I took my family and college friends they they visit me from North Texas.
Read moreI would have given them more stars but when we arrived we were told it was an hour and a half wait. The place was packed with nowhere to sit and wait with 8 people ahead of us. We asked if we could leave and come back. The teenage boy said yes and took our number down and said they would call us when there’s a table available. We left and were only 15 minutes away from their restaurant. We got a call less than 40 minutes saying there was a table available and was told they would hold it for us. We let them know we were only 15 minutes away and were on our way.
We arrived and the teenage boy said they gave our table away. We had to wait a few more minutes to get another table. After we were seated it didn’t take long to order and get our food. The service was nice but the server forgot to bring me the toppings for my Gordita. I waited about ten minutes then waived her down. Other than that the food and drinks were good. They just need to improve on being more organized and prepared with seating. Also on keeping their word when they say they’re going to hold a table for at least a reasonable amount of time. I can understand if we were late...
Read moreGorditas Mi Torreón is a simple restaurant. Gorditas and Sopes are the only things they really sell. If you've never had a Gordita or a Sope. A Gordita is kind of like a stuffed tortilla. It can be either Maize or Flour. A Sope is simply, like a mini pie crust, made of Maize and fried, topped with different ingredients. This restaurant is pretty Authentic Mexican food. The flavors of the meats and fillings they use are pretty good. Though over all I've still had better in Mexico. The location is Small, very small. There is indoor seating and you can make orders to-go. However during lunch time this place was PACKED! We waited a little over 40 mins for our food. However everyone in the restaurant was calm and polite, and like they knew the drill of how this place works. The staff were very friendly and courteous. While I would recommend it for a try at least once. I don't think I could say I'll be going back anytime soon. At the time of this writing I could not consider it a COVID-19 Safe location, due to how crowded it was. There was no distancing and while the location asks patrons for masks. MANY people were not wearing any. So please...
