I begin with saying this is my first time dining at this location of Kumori. I walk in. I notice the staff not wearing professional restaurant attire. The sushi chefs were not in formal chef attire. I started with the Spicy Kalamari and complimentary Miso Soup. Some of the plates and bowls had chips on them. They also served our sauces in a plastic container you would expect from a Wendy’s ketchup dispenser. The Kalamari was over cooked and not very appealing to look at. After finishing that I ordered the Hawaiian roll. The Hawaiian roll was not proportionate to each roll. The rice used for the roll was also under cooked and falling apart. Also each Roll was oversized with too much of all the ingredients used to make a Hawaiian roll. The worst part of all. The strawberry sauce that is supposed to be dotted on top of one half of the roll was poured on the length of the whole roll. Spicy mayo sauce also drenched my whole roll as well. The sauces over powered the whole roll and gave the roll a horrible texture. My wife’s California Special roll was also oversized as though we were dining at Whata- burger. My wife nor I whata sized our meal and did not know this was an option. This restaurant literally gave us an oversized portion thus giving us a free portion of food. My wife ordered a cucumber martini and our server went behind the bar and began to make her drink. Since when did a server begin wearing so many hats now a days. Like my gut told me, our server did not mix her drink correctly. All of these problems we had made a huge statement to my wife and I. The statement was “I do not care about this business or restaurant or our customers.” This restaurant does not take their profession seriously and needs a wake up call. Now I understand why there was no one else seated in this restaurant at lunch time on a Tuesday. Now if you think I’m crazy, I challenge you to go to eat at Kumori Culebra vs Kumori 151. There is a night and day difference. I spent 64 Dollars of my money. I will not ever be dining in that establishment ever again and would not even if they paid me. Thank you for reading. *******CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED********

I used to come to Kumori all the time but stopped because I like the newer AYCE sushi spots in San Antonio. But we finally tried their AYCE yesterday which is only available at the potranco location. They have this only MON-FRI. Lunch is 11:30-5:00 and 19.99 per person. Dinner was 29.99 a person and is offered all day. I was impressed by the value of these courses considering you get access to appetizers, noodle and rice dishes, specialty, fried and classic rolls plus desserts! The options vary depending on which you choose (lunch or dinner) . I honestly think you're better off getting lunch if you make it in time as aside from the new style tuna sashimi and a few additional rolls there wasn't much of a difference. I really enjoyed the food. Their miso soup was perfectly hot and salty and their seaweed salad was nice and refreshing. Cucumbers could use some more flavor. The San Antonio roll tasted SO FRESH and the quality of the fish was impressive. Nice and chunky pieces too. The gyozas were the best I've ever had, the chicken yakitori could be more flavorful however. If you go you have to get their ponzu for dipping. It is so unique. My only complaint was that ALL the food, even simple stuff like soup took forever to come out. And since it's timed to 1.5 hour limit, that matters. They only had 2 sushi chefs working and 2 servers, so everything was moving along slowly. However the workers were all so kind and sweet and the food was worth the wait! You can't rush art as you say. I mean everything is plated beautifully and the presentation speaks for itself. The cucumber salad is made fresh you can tell based off the crunchiness! I would definitely come again but urge the management to get more staff on board (it was not even busy when we came actually so I don't know why it took so long) to expedite the wait times for food, and post more information about this online as there's nothing available on their website or social media. That's why I attached menu pics here! Also beautiful ambience very clean and tidy restaurant

Went here on a late parents date night. When we arrived, we couldn't tell if it was open as the seating outside was not put together and you couldn't see in side (tinted windows for the sunlight). The only way we knew was the OPEN sigh flashing above the door. Its located right off the highway in the corner of 410 and Potranco. As soon as we walked in we were greeted but the hostess who ended up being our waitress also. There was only 5 other customers in the restaurant and about 4 other employees. She took our drink order and came back pretty quickly. We also got a soup....I think it was like a seaweed soup. I'm not a fan of soup so I didn't really have mine but it was very flavorful. We decided to try an appetizer and the SPICY SALMON TOWER was amazing. We kept trying to remember what was in the food because it was delicious and we just wanted to make sure we were right on what we thought we were eating. The Wasabi sauce that was on the plate was so delicious. It was the right amount of fire added to the food. We decided to each get an order and split it. We got the SAN ANTONIO ROLL and the ALASKAN ROLL. Both were very good. They didn't fall apart at all and were very big pieces. We took some home to our kids who were very jealous that we went without them. For dessert we had the TEMPURA BANANA. This was such an amazing choice. The crunch if the banana with the coolness of the ice cream was very tasty. The sauces on the plate made the dessert more delectable. I would like to go back just for the dessert, and to eat it by myself. The seating area was very well kept and looked very elegant inside. If you get a chance you should give this place a try.

This place is a joke and it’s a wonder how it is even still open. Genuinely, our entire party is now concerned as we’re all feeling sick and disgusted from our experience.

Four of us went for dinner, two of us got there a little before the others so we were sat and ordered drinks and started ordering some appetizers from the AYCE menu. Our first note was that several tables were left dirty despite the restaurant being essentially empty. Our server literally brought someone else’s dirty drink to the table set it down, and then walked away. We had to call him back just to tell him that wasn’t ours and to remove it. Then our server then notified us that when the other two of our party arrived they would not be allowed to order from the AYCE menu because they stop at 8. It wasn’t even 8 yet. So we asked does that mean we can’t order either? He said we would be able to order from the AYCE menu until 9pm but our other members would not be able to submit anything, they’d have to buy Ala carte and we wouldn’t be allowed to share. What difference does it make if I am submitting the order or them? It’s the same thing? It seems needlessly complicated and we should have just walked out then. Instead we chose to stay, the last of our party arrived and we let them know they would have to order off the Ala carte menu instead. They they tried to order drinks from the bar: a simple vodka soda. Our server could not figure it out for the life of him and told us they had none but we could order a cocktail. Thus ensured a 5 minute conversation between half the party and the server asking if they were out of vodka how could they make cocktails, only to discover our server had literally no idea what the drinks were, how they were made, or what we were asking. He also just kept leaving mid order. One of us had to go up and ask the host who immediately said, yes, they can make us vodka sodas. The entire serving process was discombobulated. I’m not sure if the server was new, having a bad day, or off his game, but it was terrible. We were 4 out of 7 people in the entire restaurant. It was literally empty, so it wasn’t as if they were slammed and trying their best.

The food wasn’t much better unfortunately. They were out of seemingly everything. No miso soup, no ginger, no wasabi. The food we did order was mediocre AT BEST. Several of our dishes were ready and sitting on the sushi bar, we could see them as we were seated right next to it. Our server was just milling around by the bar, at one point even walked up looked at the dishes and walked away. Our sashimi and sushi sat there for probably 15 minutes before he finally decided to bring it to our table. My mom’s rice dish was alarming. It looked terrible, no garnish, nothing. It reeked like sour, turned meat. Everyone at the table tasted it to make sure; it was indeed spoiled. We sent it back and it was removed from our bill. Not exactly a confidence boosting occurrence when you’re about to choke down possibly contaminated raw fish. Our sushi rolls came out and were gross. Room temp, boarding on warm, raw fish. Absolutely drenched in sauce, possibly to hide the quality I’m not sure. We didn’t order anymore despite it literally being AYCE.

Overall, it was one of the worst restaurants we’ve eaten at in San Antonio. The place emanated the weirdest energy, it was like all the life and service was completely zapped out of the place. Everything from the food, service, restaurant policy made no sense. And on top of it all, it had a pretty price at the end. We requested a military discount, and apparently the general manager approved it to be put on the entire bill, even with the AYCE which the server stated was not common. So I know they were aware of how terribly they preformed. I appreciate the discount, but I would have appreciated a worthwhile meal that didn’t make us all sick, more.

Save your money, your time, and your stomach. Go to Umiya. It is...
