I stayed here for 49 days for work/business. The employees at the front desk were helpful and kind. Upon getting into my room, it was very clean and nice. Was honestly surprised how updated and new it was, it doesn’t have the “hotel” feel, more like a studio apartment. It would be a 4-5 star hotel if they would fix some of the cons.
FYI. 3 trucks were broken into in one night (04/15) while here, 2 newer silverado’s and a new tundra. The Tru by hilton next door had a vehicle break-in(s) a couple days prior also.
Pros: Updated rooms/appliances. Clean and roomy upon check-in. Very hot water Secured rooms Large trash can by elevator or stairwell Nice outdoor hangout area w/ grill and fire pit/table. Digital key app. Although i dislike the app (takes too long, triggers ApplePay), it comes in handy if you forget your key. Good washer/dryers. Cost $2.25 per load (can use credit/debit card). Has a dog bathroom area with trash can and bags. (Although the area is a small portion of grass in between the curb and fence in the back.) Security. Outdoor cameras and a outside security guard occasionally during select hours/days.
Cons: WiFi: their wifi is honestly hot garbage. I get x amount of ppl are using it for their personal devices and probably their tv’s too. Although, the tv should not lag terribly and need to reconnect to the router every 10 minutes. Some days are better than others, but overall trash. Other hotel chains do the same thing and have no issues, especially with the tv’s. Very low shower water pressure. A/C only goes down to 68 degrees. Which is ridiculous during the TX summer. Especially when the center of the hotel is open to the elements, warming up all the rooms compared to other fully enclosed hotels. “2” ply toilet paper (really one ply). I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels, but this toilet paper is stupid thin. I couldn’t take it anymore and bought actual 2 ply toilet paper. Poor gym. Free weights only go up to 17.5 lbs, 1 bench, treadmill, elliptical, and bicycle. The equipment is new though. Thin walls. Can hear almost everything, ppl walking above, doors closing. Very hard to sleep in with everyone opening doors and walking around. Literally cant sleep in past 8am or go to bed before 10pm most days. Tall / handicap toilet (unless you’re 6’5” with long legs, you have to be tip toeing). The thing is, all the rooms are handicap accessible (Thats awesome right. The door handles are lower and almost everywhere in the room is handicap accessible.) BUT there are no support handles for the toilet and the shower is absolutely not handicap accessible even if it had support handles (it doesn’t). Towels are cheap. Made out of 100% cotton but are rough, especially after they are used/get wet a time or two. Stiff bed. My bed at home is on the firmer side, but their bed is almost like a rock. Cheap pillows. The pillow cases are rough. The softer pillows go flat after a couple nights. The sheet on the bed is very uncomfortable and rough. Just rip it off. Housekeeping is borderline acceptable. Even though i have my own body wash/shampoo, i would still like the hotel body wash refilled. Especially since the hotel doesn’t supply actual hand soap. Also not replenished the toilet paper. Even though i may choose to buy/use my own should not mean to not supply me with the hotels. Could tell they did not vacuum, oven counter top was still dirty-ish. Could tell the hardwood was mopped (by some type of swifter sweeper), had a small sticky residue. Although, they do change out the towels, clean the bathroom well, and make the bed.
Unlike other major hotels, StayAPT gives you a good discount the longer you stay with them, which helps make the cons bearable in those cases. Although, for around $110 a night normally, it barely competes over the nearby hotels with similar rooms.
Overall. Would not stay again because of the bed, shower pressure, A/C,...
Read moreWe just needed a room that is close to SeaWorld San Antonio for the weekend that is also pet friendly, so I booked this hotel on a whim. What a serendipitous surprise! Literally an apartment in a hotel. Everything we need was available in the unit: full kitchen with induction cooktop, dishwasher, oven, microwave, fridge, silverware and cookware, plates, bowls and glasses - was not expecting this at all! Our room was missing paper towels and dish detergent and sponge that usually comes with a unit equipped with a kitchen. The courtyard, which is clean and well kept, has a gas grill that guests can use to cook your own food if the kitchen isn't sufficient. The front desk lady at the time (Lina I believe) was texting me updates on our check-in procedure, letting me know where to find our room keys in the lockbox (since we expected to arrive at a later time). This added a personal touch, which I was not expecting at all.
The hotel even has a laundry room (with snack and beverage vending machines) that guests can use if they are staying for a longer period of time. The entire premise is well lit from top to bottom, making the hotel feel very safe. The parking lots, front and back, are also very well lit at night. There is quiet time, I believe from 9PM to 7AM that is strictly enforced. Overall, we had a great time in San Antonio after a 5 hours drive from Dallas through a crazy rain storm late April 2024 and stayAPT welcomed us with the comfort and core essentials we needed. When we return to San Antonio, we'll make stayAPT Suites San Antonio-Lackland our home away from home and we'll be sure to bring our YETI cooler along with...
Read moreThe staff and management were great and friendly towards us. The rooms had everything we needed for a long stay and was pretty clean with a good layout. Fitness room was small but had everything for a simple workout and gets the job done. Laundry room was decent just didn't like that how much it cost (about $5 per load). No 24 hr receptionist and main lobby door is closed at night.
I had to change rooms 3 times while I was here. First was a minor issue with the TV, second because of ants, third because of a water leak in the ceiling (my room was on the second floor). I had no issues changing rooms or with management and they addressed my concerns immediately. It was just a pain moving considering I was there for seven days and just wanted to settle in and relax since I was there for a funeral.
Biggest issue is that my truck was broken into. Luckily didn't have too much of value in the truck but none the less my truck was broken into. No security cameras in the parking lot and "security" roams the parking lots but obviously didn't catch this one. Security should be tightened up or cameras added to the outside.
The staff was sympathetic and made a condolence/sympathy basket for us which I am grateful for just wish it didn't come down to it. Just wanted a peaceful stay while waiting to lay my loved one...
