I just have to take the moment to praise the owner of Elise, she turned around an upsetting situation into a pleasant one.
I noticed they were having more vegan options so I wanted to stop by and try them. We went up to the register and I told the cashier that I wanted the vegan option of a plate. She just nodded after I ordered and once my husband ordered she asked if that was it and I said “yes I’ll be having the vegan option and my husband will have …” I could tell the cashier wasn’t having the best attitude so before we paid I said “I’m sorry, I just wanted to confirm that my plate is vegan” and she looked a little annoyed and just nodded again, I couldn’t get her to verbally confirm. I’m usually not the person to be double or triple checking with the cashier that I have the vegan options bc I don’t want to be that annoying person but I was just getting a weird vibe from the cashier. Our food comes out and guess what, my plate isn’t the vegan option 🥲 the lady that brought out our food said that the ticket didn’t specify that it was a vegan plate and I told her that I told the cashier 3 times to please make mine vegan. She apologized and took the plate back. My plate still wasn’t able to come out by the time my husband finished eating so at that point I just wanted to leave. I went up to the cashier and asked if I could just get a refund on my plate and we were just going to head out. The cashier acted completely clueless when I brought up the situation and went to go talk to another person, the lady that had brought out our food the first time. The lady came up and asked me to take the plate and offered a refund. She came out moments after and asked how the food was. I told her it was good and I apologized for the situation. She said there was no need to apologize and thanked me for the information about the cashier. I asked if she was the owner and she said yes and I thanked her again. Y’all, she was so graceful about the whole situation and I can tell she values her customers more than anything. I’ve never been in a situation where I get the wrong order and the owner puts in so much effort to try to make it right. I feel like usually vegans are seen as an inconvenience to non-vegan restaurants and I’ve had plenty of wrong orders and have seen people get wrong orders but no one (vegan or not vegan) handled it as great as she did. I’ve had managers at other non-vegan restaurants come tell me there’s no cheese in a plate that clearly has cheese and I ordered without it 🙃 She took the mistake and apologized as if she had done wrong herself. She is a jem in my book and we will definitely be going back. Y’all go support as much as y’all can!!
Although I know I run a risk of not getting the right dish at a non-vegan restaurant, this is the first time I have to reiterate myself so much and still get the wrong order. I had to do remind myself to not blame the owner/business for the mistake of a cashier that really seemed like she didn’t want...
Read moreBible verses and talk of prayer cover the walls & website, but basic decency was absent. My family looked forward to trying Elise’s Cuisine for weeks, for its advertised GF breakfast menu that seemed perfect for my daughter, who has celiac. She was so excited, having read the menu online in advance and even double checking it the night before - only to be met with shocking hostility from Elise, the owner.
She ordered the gf pancakes with gf chicken and, as always, specified “gluten-free” — something that’s second nature to anyone with a serious allergy. When the food arrived, the pancakes clearly weren’t gluten-free, and when she kindly asked about it Elise became immediately defensive and argued that she hadn’t asked for them that way.
Instead of handling the situation with understanding or grace, Elise grew increasingly agitated and said she’d have to charge for a new plate. My daughter, trying to be polite and understanding the struggles restaurants are facing, agreed to pay for a second meal.
But while ringing it up, Elise publicly scolded her at the register about “not reading the menu” and “ordering correctly.” It was humiliating and completely uncalled for.
My daughter, holding back tears, canceled the replacement order and sat silently while the rest of us ate. The "complimentary" GF pancakes Elise sent later were an empty gesture after such rudeness.
We support local businesses and understand that mistakes happen. But what matters most is how those mistakes are handled. To be fair I will say that the food was very good and the rest of her staff were kind. Unfortunately, Elise’s reaction turned a hopeful visit into a...

This food is healthy, fresh, and absolutely delicious. They have vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free menu items that are all spectacular. Breakfast and lunch is served all day and the food is full of flavor and the portions are filling. There are a wide variety of beverage options that are both healthy and tasty.
The owner and staff here are very welcoming and friendly and helpful. The gluten-free food here is so good that I drove 45 minutes each way just to pick it up for my wife. It was worth every minute and every mile.
There are lots of food options around this part of town, and I have been to many of them, but this is by far the best. My only regret is having not found this treasure of a restaurant sooner.
Anyone who gives this place less than five stars simply cannot be trusted. It's so good it deserves 10 stars, and once you try it for yourself I know you will agree. Went into support small businesses like this. Their service and product is far superior to any chain restaurant that you might consider. And as far as small local eateries go, this is one of the best.
As you can tell, I can't recommend it enough. Go pay them a visit and find out why...
