I hope yall try to FIX your business because I am clearly not the only one here that has the same opinion/review.

I came here on MOTHER’S DAY. Which is a day they SHOULD expect to be PACKED, but they clearly have no organization skills whatsoever.

1- Hostess are the freaking worst. They tell you one time but it goes WAY over their estimate and it becomes a joke. They seat small parties on big tables rather than give attention to the big parties. They dont even know what parties to seat nor what tables are available. On top of that, when I asked how long for my party Caytlin couldn’t even find my name in her iPad. The other hostess had to jump in and show her. Honestly, for holidays like this they should’ve been more prepare in the host stand.

2- I went to talk with Management because I saw multiple tables opened and cleaned, but he brushed me off saying they are “holding the kitchen”. PETE (calls himself manager) LITERALLY ignored me when I was clearly speaking to him. WHAT a manager (irony included). You should be fired, Pete, and not be able to find another management job. He then went off about how there’s a “kitchen hold up”, but after talking to him people started getting seated (coincidence? I dont think so). PETE, you are the worst manager and person ever existed. God bless your heart and I hope you get better on your management and people skills, because you got NONE. As a manager you should show SYMPATHY and HOSPITALITY to the people that are here for your business (and paying for it!!) but you only showed disrespect and gossiped with the hostess as soon as I walk out. Barely he knew I was just going out to take a breath after dealing with such a coward like him. As soon as I walked back in, Jonathan (also manager) approached me to ask how he can help, with willingness to listen. THATS how a manager should act (take notes, PETE). Jonathan immediately understood where I came from and asked how many people needed to be seated. I saw at least 3 managers around, and all were hiding in the kitchen instead of helping the hostesses who were clearly overwhelmed and clueless. 3- After finally being sat down after a 2hrs wait, Jonathan once again noticed we weren't greeted and jumped in to take our appetizer and drinks. Then, our server, Lizabeth, approached us and apologized for not greeting us right way. She explained she had a big party and needed a bathroom break, which we COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND! Lizabeth took such great care of us, always smiling and making sure we were doing ok, which was highly appreciated. 4- The food is great and it came really fast (whats the hold up in the kitchen, PETE?).

If it wasnt for Jonathan and Lizabeth, that showed hospitality and care, I would definitely leave a bad review all around, but they were fighting for the business all the way. Mambo, please take a closer look in your management. Some people truly dont deserve to be on a manager position. You have the potential to be a great restaurant, if you start hiring the right people (starting with hostess and management). Anyways, if you come here just come ready to wait and with a lot...

I feel that there should be more team work there the host did seat us where we requested a booth which was us having the bartender as a server but she was prepping many things as that is her duty our food staying in the window for idk how long we waited 30 minutes for it and I was concerned so I went to the restroom and saw my food there instead of others just running our food out while she was working in the back is what I assumed as she was making lemonade before that at the bar when I asked a server about it he asked who served me then at that moment she came out then went and got it telling them I was in the back more than likely prepping as it just opened and others where all getting their order

No one did the right thing by running her food for her as they should have I have worked as a server and we help each other in many different places that I worked at but this was a team error not a bartender server error as she told them in the beginning give the tables to another server she was prepping but the host actually just laughed

He should of ran our food for us Now running late 30 minutes away from work being that we would arrive at work at the moment when we were suppose to be there we just took our food to go we ate a bit then disposed of it

I always felt that Mexicans are suppose to stick together as everyone spoke Spanish as do I but it seems as they're just competing with each other instead

They just left their fellow co worker the bartender out to dry but I bet that they depended on her extremely later when she had to make all of their alcoholic drinks and lemonade as the day went on

At 1st I kinda looked at her like she was just eating in the back but then I thought if she was so what if there is food on the window run it She could of been in the restroom for all we know or on an important phone call or meeting with the manager

We will not be returning Team work will always make the dream work where one fails the team should be their strength just as she is the one that they depend on to make drinks she kept telling them give them to a server as there were other booths on the other side of the restaurant but he kept sitting people in front of the bar smh let the servers get slammed so that they make more money early even though it's more work they work mainly on tips what if there were 20 of us and we wanted 4 booths what he would of say us all on here side I bet

All we ordered was shrimp and crab balls the shrimp stayed in the window for who knows how long the restaurant was pretty much near empty and it just opened

So yea if that continues I wouldn't be surprised if the establishment closes just like the recent company there did Joe's...

Decided to give it a try since friends suggested it I was greeted by the hostess all was going ok we waited 10 min for table of 5 guests. We were seated and we waited another 5 min at the table and I see plates handed to tables next to me and their waiters and waitresses all very friendly, I was excited.. until OUR waitress arrives with an expression of if someone can roll their eyes without rolling them that would be her I quickly realized she (name tag : Azul) did not want to be there she quickly asked what we wanted to eat and wrote it down and walked away only to return 5 min later and say “oh yea what do you want to drink anyway ” I suddenly knew this was gonna suck. She seemed very friendly and talkative to other waitresses and even smiling with them but not to us and her uniform sleeve even said staff trainer ! (Hopefully for this place sake she’s not). Our appetizer came out it was the calamari it was ok no flavor and mainly breading then our entrées came and since our waitress did not explain how the plates can be customized differently with options the restaurant offered the plates were not what we were expecting also we ordered a cheeseburger with fries only to see it presented with white cheese and no where in the menu did it say white cheese so that was not a fun experience trying to convince an autistic child that cheese is also white but we tried to enjoy our meals and when we asked for additional limes which we got way into the meal which makes you wonder what’s the point now and also a party of 5 trying to share 4 napkins because we never got more after our appetizer also never got refills on our drinks. I’ve never hurried to finish a meal to just leave we were ready to get out but we had to flag down another waiter cause ours just went missing we told the waiter her name tag says Azul and she’s missing and his facial expression was like “ ahh” like if he knew she’s problematic he comes back with her and the checks in hand we present our cards and were more then ready to leave she comes back with the portion to sign and leaves … and we’re there with the checks and NO PENS !! so I get up and I ask another waitress for a pen. She looks at me with a bewildered look and hands me a straw A STRAW !!! I I was so upset I don’t even know where I got a pen but I just signed for our ticket and left worst experience ever If you want sea food DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STICK TO SEA ISLAND OR LAGUNA MADRE at least you won’t be disappointed and with waitresses like her this place will be closed...

Spicy Mambo Boil! 🦐🔥

Had the pleasure of visiting this establishment on Veteran’s Day weekend. They were offering a really nice 30% discount for those associated with the military (Active and Veterans). HOOah! There’s been a lot of buzz around town about this place so I had to make an extra effort to slide in here and see what it was all about. Upon entering I was pleasantly impressed because it was very bright, open, clean (recently opened) and vibrant. There were lots of customers and everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves. I was extremely impressed with the flavor for the Fried Salmon appetizer; the ingredients were incredible and the flavor was amazing. I was not expecting the flavor to pop like that considering it was salmon, but it was great. Crunchy outside, with nice soft flavorful inside with peppers and a seasoning that really made it taste great. I also ordered the Mambo Combo with fried fish, fried shrimp, stuffed crab and stuffed shrimp. This was a very nice plate, cooked properly, tasted good and very decent portions. We also ordered the Grilled Monterey Chicken, that was cooked perfectly and. tasted good. They serve fried rice with most meals, so you will definitely leave with a full stomach. I thought the fried rice was probably once of best parts of the meal. This place is not a high-end seafood restaurant. The seafood is average, the prices are average and the service is average. I think it’s great place to go if you want to take the family out to get seafood, everyone gets full and you don’t have to spend a lot of money. We had a person in our party that did not eat seafood and the waitress told us that “all”of the friend rice was cooked with seafood. Upon inquiring with the manager, we realized that we could get cook-to-order fried rice with no seafood. Additionally, our waitress spoke to us in 90% Spanish and that was a bit annoying because most of the people at the table did not speak Spanish. She zoomed in on those that spoke Spanish and she communicated with them for everyone’s order. I also think this was part of the confusion regarding ordering fried rice with no seafood. Contrary to what some may believe; everyone in San Antonio does not speak Spanish. Overall this place hits right in the middle of a scale between 1-5. Nothing very exceptional about it and I’m glad that we got the 30% off of the ticket.

4.1 - 4.2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Yes, I rated them 5 stars because I didn’t feel 4 stars gives this place enough justice. When I look up places to eat, I’ve gotten to a point that if it’s not 4.5 stars plus, I’m usually not going to go there. Not because I won’t eat at a lower rated restaurant, but there are plenty of places with higher ratings I can try. SO, why 4.1-4.2 stars. The place was busy but most the tables outside were open and it wasn’t super cold, so we sat out there. Environment is pretty nice, they had some tejano playing and my son got to play in the playground. They have several michelada flavors, so the waitress recommended one and it was delicious. After that, almost all the tables outside got filled. Our waitress got slammed and I was worried there would be a long wait and poor service to have all these people to help at the same time. Our waitress was pretty awesome. She did her best in managing the tables and kept everyone in order they got seated. Now the food. The food is GOOD. But for 5 stars, it has to be great.. perfect almost. If you give a place the highest rating possible, you’re saying it’s as good as it gets. I didn’t feel that way. I did like it a lot but it was just good and enjoyable. We got the salmon balls and some raw oysters, which were both pretty awesome. My main course (I forgot what it was called) had shrimp, fish, the mambo rice, and a side salad. I also added the signature Z sauce (a South America sauce with achiote). The ranch for the side salad was sad.. I didn’t like it at all. There were big shrimp, which I loved, and the fish was really good, but it was kind of bland in my opinion. My FAVORITE thing was the mambo rice. It had little shrimp in it and had a rich flavor. It was soo good. My son had the burger and fries. The fries were meh and the burger was ok. My wife had fish tacos which were pretty good. I’ve had better, but they were still legit. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. There was some great food and some was just good. Prices were reasonable though and I would definitely suggest giving them a try! I can see myself going back (especially for more of that rice 🤤)
