It's taken me a long time to write this review because I believe this service is in theory an amazing service to have. At the recommendation of the hospital I delivered at I went to Baby Cafe twice within the first two weeks of my baby's life. I'm a first time mom, my baby was losing weight and my breasts were overfull for longer than they should have been. During the first visit they said they checked my baby's mouth for restrictions (lip ties, tongue ties, etc.) and never told me the result so I assumed there were none. It turned out my baby had a minor posterior tongue tie, small lip tie & cheek tie. Long story short they were a massive waste of precious time and energy while my baby was struggling to feed himself. Thanks to a different IBCLC we went to a pediatric dentist and had these issues verified along with challenging mouth structure for breastfeeding. With the help of my lactation consultant breastfeeding finally worked for us. The second time I went back I asked about what they found when they checked for restrictions and the woman responded "it was a little tight".... I had no idea what I was doing and thought the IBCLC there would. She did not. For most babies and most women this is probably a fantastic resource. For anyone else...
Read moreIt's taken me a while to do a review for this place (new baby and all!), But I'd like to express my gratitude for the existence of this place and the patience of the women who work there. Breastfeeding started out as a very frustrating experience for me (and my daughter). BabyCafe offered me support, advice, and just a place to go and cry when I thought I was going to have to give up. I visited five or six times total and each time I saw a different person....Which was great because I needed several different plans of attack to get through that first month and a half. But I truly felt that each of them cared about us and wanted to help and I knew that I would be warmly welcomed no matter how many times I returned. I don't think I would have persevered without this place!....Now, baby and I are on month 6 of breastfeeding and doing great! For anyone struggling out there, don't hesitate to ask for a...
Read more2019 This place is amazing. I went in there confused and freaked out because I had a clogged milk duct and we just started breast feeding. We ended up staying past closing until they made sure I was comfortable with everything, I was given a ton of information and left with a HUGE smile on my face knowing I got this. I cannot recommend this place enough!!! They do prefer appointments over walk-ins just so they can make sure everyone gets 1 on 1 attention but they will take walk-ins if they're not packed. EDIT: 2022 I came back 3 years later when I had my daughter. Still just as great! I always left with more knowledge and comfort than when I arrived. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable. Now you have to call and make an appointment when you want to come but they try to get you in soon! So grateful to...
