I had not eaten here in about 10 yrs and about 10 before that. This place was a middle school morning/breakfast ritual a few times per wk w a handful of friends. The lady who waited on us had waited on us at kids. She said she has been there 29 yrs! This is one of the ONLY places I'll order carne guisada tacos and it's JUST AS GOOD as I remember, as is the iced tea and other tacos ordered. Great food & service presented fairly quick each time. Nice if you don't have a ton of time and wanna quick bite or for lunch brk. STILL LOVE THIS PLACE!

Everyone seems incredibly friendly and joyful, first time here, got the Monday lunch special pork chops, not falling off the bone, but I didn't really have to use the knife, very flavorful. The salsa came with the chips was one of a kind, I've never tasted anything quite like it, its a little warm and very tomato y, I loved it.

Had Valerie's plate and it did not disappoint, puffy taco, flauta, cheese enchilada, rice and beans was delicious and the price was reasonable. The tortillas was really soft and fresh. It was my first time there and I felt so welcomed, definitely will be going back again.

I order my food and drinks with my family… because my mother loves the food there I didn’t fuss.The orange juice was discolored and tasted soar .. I asked if I could get another drink and they said they would still have to charge me for the drink because the expiration date was good . I told the waitress to drink it or the owner to drink … however point of the story they lost a customer over a $2.00 drink .. you had a long time customer who will never return back .,, it’s no wonder your establishment has lost its clients with an attitude that doesn’t care anymore for...

The staff is so friendly and the tortillas... THE TORTILLAS! The huevos rancheros are mild, but the salsa verde hits a special place in my heart and stomach. Their beans are flavorful, smell great, and taste like childhood memories. I am a stickler for enchiladas, and theirs are where I set my bar; not greasy at all, the guisada is that perfect balance of thick but not too thick, with a flavor that is just perfect along side the beans and the rice. Marys smells, feels, and tastes like I am walking into my mamo's kitchen again, and those flour tortillas...

Mary's Snack Bar & Cafe in one of those 5 star hole-in-the-wall restaurants you will be happy you took a friend or client to. I've been invited there two times by a good friend and both times the food was some of THE BEST short-order Mexican food I have eaten and I haved in San Antonio all my life.
