Wanted a quick bite, but also somewhere I haven't been to. So I settled for Mimi's. Dining room is almost nonexistent, with only space for one table in order to make walk room for incoming customers. I chose to go for a chorizo and egg, barbacoa, and a carne asada taco. The unexpected star of the show was the chorizo and egg. The ratio of egg and chorizo was perfecto and moist. Next, I went for the barbacoa, the main thing they specialize in. Thankfully the meat wasn't dry, though more on the leaner side. Unfortunately, no seasoning whatsoever. I guess I should of accepted the salt and pepper packets that the guy at the counter offered me. Maybe its under seasoned to accommodate older guests? If so, I still won't take that as an excuse for a bland taco. I would of also liked if they asked me for onions and cilantro for the barbacoa, considering he asked me for the carne asada.. Speaking of asada, this is definitely the worst of the 3 tacos that I ordered. Under seasoned, big chunks of not so tender beef. Quite disappointed with this joint. I did expect more. Also, the restaurant doesn't make fresh tortillas, which may be a red flag for purists. I was mostly indifferent on the matter though. Prices are bit higher than expected, though they do fill the taco to the brim, so no need to ask for extra meat/filling. In the end, I think I'll go elsewhere in the future for tacos and maybe you should too if you are coming here for more than...

I truly wish there was a way to do a 0 star rating. I have been coming to this place for quite sometime. I believe in supporting local businesses. However, I will never go back to this business again. One of the men who is obviously part ownership is the rudest person I’ve ever come across. This morning I placed an order to go. $34.00 later I tried to pay with a $100 bill, the gentleman held it up to the light and informed me he didn’t feel comfortable taking it. Didn’t apologize but sure did make me feel like I was trying to give him a counterfeit bill. I understand that this does happen so I understand, however there is a proper way to address it. I did mention that they make pens to verify bills and it would probably be a wise investment for the establishment. Then was told we don’t normally accept these bills. If you aren’t going to accept bills over a certain amount you should probably make your customers aware before hand. Going forward I will give my business to establishments who treat their customers with respect. I will NEVER go back to this establishment and will make sure to share how rude the customer...

Went a little hard on a Saturday night and had some local peeps stay over. Everyone woke up hungry so I mentioned Mimi's. I had huevos rancheros and it came with papa's(potatoes), refried beans, and 2 tortillas and I added bacon on the side, a 2L big red and everyone else had breakfast tacos. My plate was delicious. I didn't even share. Barbacoa continued to be the top on the convo. They didn't want to order a pound of barbacoa(barbacoa trust issues). So they ordered tacos to test it out. First, the taco could of probably made 3 of them. 2nd, they wished they had ordered that pound. They even mentioned that the barbacoa from here was better than what they are use to having. The green salsa was a hit(pica pica) as well as the pico de pallo. They were very nice and awesome. Cant wait to try everything else they...

I recommend Mimi's for their barbacoa. The "All Meat" is tender, flavorful and not greasy like other places. The price is a bit high but worth it. I don't recommend the tamales though. This was the second time getting them and were soggy having a higher masa to meat ratio. They are kept in a plastic bag which is probably why they're soggy. The tortillas are ok so I mainly only get the barbacoa from mimis and the sides at other location. Customer service is always good. I plan on trying the Tacos soon but I always get caught up with buying a couple pounds of barbacoa cause it's the best in san antonio. It was $36.85 for 1 pound of all meat barbacoa with salsa and a dozen tamales. No other items on this purchase.

Ladies were really sweet but Guy taking orders was rude and offensive. And I'm not thin skinned. I mentioned that prices were different online and he said "If you can't buy them then don't" I was embrassed and in shock that he said that to me in front of everyone. Mind you this is my first time..buying $70 worth of tacos alone. Which were greasy, bland and then tortillas weren't even homemade. Overall, the tacos weren't all that and what made them worse was that Boy. I choose local because it's hard out here for small businesses but don't judge people when their questioning about the business. Its not that big of a deal but We won't ever be back.
