WARNING!! Prices aren't what they seem!! Man, we've been going there for about a month and a half and at least, once a week. Sometimes, twice. The tacos are really tasty and a good size. The service is also pretty good. The salsa though, needs work. Not great. With all that being said, I have had a couple of issues. If you dance from the front door to the register, you get a free coffee or tea and all the servers cheer you on. It's great! My server acknowledged that I did it, but forgot to take it off my bill. We told the cashier and she didn't believe us and thought we were lying, even though she stands RIGHT THERE by the door and tried to tell us she would do it this once, like she was doing us a favor. Like, why you fighting so hard for a coffee? I guess, thanks. A week later, same cashier charges my card $200 instead of $20. I don't usually get a receipt to save paper waste, so I didn't realize until I got home and received an alert. I went back, they fixed it and gave me my money back. Stuff happens, but that's a big mistake. Last straw, we went yesterday to have breakfast and as the same cashier was ringing my items, I noticed she's charging me $2.10 for bean and cheese. Honestly, I think charging over $2 for a B&Chz is ridiculous, but that's not my complaint. My complaint is that the menu says it's $1.80. I didn't notice what she charged for the other items, but I'm sure it was the same situation. When I asked her why she was charging me .30 more, she got the menu and pointed to the small print on the way bottom of the menu that said, prices subject to change. Um, excuse me?! Are we at a fish market?! So, here I am thinking I'm going to pay a certain price for food because your menu has said price, but because you just feel like changing it up, that price isn't valid because of that small statement on the bottom. What is the damn point of putting prices on your menu at all if you are going to be charging whatever you want any given day? That should be something the servers point out because you're expecting to pay what it says, not rolling the dice and hoping today is the menu price! I honestly don't even know if that's legal! Doesn't sound like it! And it's BEANS AND CHEESE!! How much could prices on those products increase to charge .30 extra a taco and not telling your customers?! I'm sorry, but that's shady as hell. I understand it's not a whole lot, but it eventually adds up and it's really the lack of transparency that gets to me. If your menu says $2.10, I'm still going to buy it because I love me some B&Chz. But seeing it's one price then charging another is not ok. I really wanted to keep going back, but after these, not so minor things, we won't be going back. Times are hard and if that's how you choose to stay in business, I want no part in it. So, this is your WARNING because they won't tell you. Prices aren't what they seem. I don't like people stealing from me and that's...
Read moreFirst time coming here. The atmosphere is quaint and a nice open space. The floors and tables are clean.
All the waitstaff are extremely friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was a sweetheart. She had a cheerful attitude. I liked that she checked on us often.
They gave us some chips and salsa. The chips were over fried and had a weird after taste... almost dessert like. Their salsa had no flavor or heat to it. It just look like tomato sauce.
Carne Guisada - the meat is tender almost like potted meat. The flavor is mild. My hubby's flour tortillas were hard and tasted old or as if they were reheated too many times.
Bean and cheese- the refried beans are very soupy. They have a seed oil taste or it could be lard. I was hoping they used bacon grease but doesn't taste like it.
Beef fajitas with onion and green bell peppers- now this is the star. The meat is very tender and seasoned to perfection. The onions are grilled perfectly. Only thing in our order that was actually delicious. My tortillas were soft and good.
Water tasted weird like a soapy flavor. The tea is weak.
Now where you have to be careful is when you get checked out by the owner. All the prices on the menu is not what she charges. For examples: the bean and cheese came out to $2.50 instead of the $1.80 listed. Beef fajitas show as $4.99 but instead was $5.50. She tried to charge us $43.28 but when I pulled out cash she cleared the total before I could say anything. So if I paid card she would have doubled our price. With cash it came out to $23 and change. She did not give us our receipt.
For me, the food isn't truly...
Read moreThe woman at the front register changes the prices upon charging. She charged my nephew way more than what it should have been. Their menudo hardly had any menudo meat at all. It was all soup. Which was disappointing they came all the way from San Marcos. They had asked the waitress if there was plenty menudo because they wanted extra meat and pig feet. It was 3 adults and 1 toddler. He left the tip on the table but she she overcharged him I’m not sure if for credit card, tip and other additional charges. He isn’t one to speak up. I had noticed that the last time 3 of my co workers & I went for lunch. They were saying I think she charged us wrong. I didn’t pay just left the top but my co workers noticed the bill was way too high for what we ordered. The guys didn’t speak up either. Yesterday I went with 3 people plus myself. This woman was asking how much we left on the table & said let me see if it’s enough for the total amount of the bill. She was trying to charge almost $20 more. I think she’s the owner of the restaurant. The woman at the register. Her name on her shirt said Martha. She’s wrong for doing that to clients. People work hard to earn a living and treat themselves to going out to eat. For someone to steal and unjustly charge is...
