We opted to visit the Pizza Italia for the Chiefs divisional playoff game against the Texans. This is one of the few places in San Antonio that celebrates everything. Chiefs and we went here because we had a visiting Chiefs fan in our group. We arrived about 1 hour before the game to find parking and seating. We opted to sit at the bar, and Hailey was attentive to those at the bar. We ordered an appetizer and a side salad to start, then ordered their Meatie Mia large. We tried a few beers, my favorite being the red ale from Austin (#23). The atmosphere, crowd, and staff were all fantastic. Everyone was cordial and friendly. The staff handled the crowd, which filled the restaurant with quality service. For parking, if the strip center parking is full, you may be able to find parking behind the restaurant. This was my second time visiting, the first being about 1 year ago, and my visit was just as much fun as the last time. I hope that if you decide to visit that your experience is as good as mine.

First time here, normally a big fan of Capparellis, but wanted to try something new... we were greeted with great customer service friendly face, she informed us of the special large 2 topping, ordered the ceaser and garlic bread, with some drinks as well. Pizza was under done and the dough was soggy. The bell peppers were very raw and not cooked well. The sausage crumble had decent flavor. Garlic bread was very good. I noticed a lot of trash on the floor, didnt see anyone with a broom or cleaning tables. Also the vent directly above us was completely filthy. Service was ok, we got the basic of garlic bread but never received plates so we ate off napkins, manager did stop by and buss the table as well and offered a togo box but not worth it. I would say the restaurant needs some improvements for my tastes.

If you are a fan of El Presidente's one bite pizza reviews, you'll understand this review. If not, go Google search his reviews. Highly entertaining. Found this place by happenstance and popped in. They had a special on a large pie, so I jumped in. Took about 10 minutes. Pie was delivered piping hot. The pie had a good undercarriage, medium crisp, no char and only a slight flop. Cheese to sauce ratio was pretty good. Toppings were not "fresh" made, obviously not deli meats and cheese. Nothing artisinal in my opinion. A solid 6.6 pie, which is a good score for SA. The ambience, waitstaff, and craft beer selection is very good. Will return to try some of their other offerings. You should check them out if you're in the Thousand Oaks/Jones Maltsberger area and want a non-mass produced pie.

I’ve been going to pizza italia for years and the pizza is very good however last night will be the last time I ever go to this place. I ordered two pizzas and two salads as part of their Monday night special. When I arrived to pick up my order there was a pizza missing apparently they never heard the second pizza on the phone. No big deal I asked if they could make it and charge me for it they were busy and I asked if I could have it delivered but with no delivery fee so I could get home to my family. The lady at the front who I felt bad for through all of this asked the owner who yelled at her in front of everyone to just remove the fee. I gave her my address but her system kept crashing so this took another 20 minutes. Finally I get home and by now the pizza is cold as I wasted 40 minutes in the store. I missed a call from the owner apparently there was “confusion” with my order and the pizza had not been made I asked them to make it and the owner yelled again at Bonnie I think it was to “get over here” while I was on the ovine then handed my off with out a word. I asked since it had been over two hours by this point if I could get the pizza comped mind you it’s only 8 bucks with the special which is the price of the two salads combined and I had bought another pizza the manager said no so I settled for no delivery fee. I went into the store at 8 and didn’t get my second pizza delivered until 11:15. I did give the driver a small tip so I basically still paid the delivery fee. Moral of the story don’t expect good customer service going here as others have noted they keep getting ordered mixed up and I refuse to give money to someone who treats employees like garbage when they are trying their best and won’t compensate a regular who had a...

I am writing a review because my wife wrote a review and you left a false response, “I was there.” I have all the times the time on the receipt from as soon as I got there to pay the bill for the order. I have the time I waited on the order from when we called in at 4:42 to the time I walked out the door with the pizza at your restaurant at 5:39 on the dot. The pizza was not hot like as if it should have been as if it was fresh out of the oven. The pizza was not made with extra cheese that I paid an extra 2:50 for. I picked the pizza up at your restaurant and even gave an extra 2:00 tip even tho I was picking up the pizza. I do not normally leave these kind of reviews but you left an ugly response and also said you are not magicians. There were not many people in the restaurant either more employees than customers. I have eaten at your restaurant for many years not sure why the past couple of times have been bad service and barely fair food. But since you think in these hard economic times it’s ok to leave those types of responses and do not value hard working and good paying customers who only left a response because this was not the first time this has happened. Then we will not be returning and I am sorry to leave this kind of review but your response as an owner is very unprofessional. The mistake was yours and most people would apologize and say we will do our best to make sure this does not happen again. We would have directly erased the review but you stooped lower with your response as an owner and put me into a position to do something I don’t like to do nor have...

My family and I went to the restaurant and ate on the patio yesterday. We ordered a cheese pizza and a pepperoni pizza. It took about 40 minutes for the pizzas to come out. When they came out there was little cheese and little sauce on the pizzas. They were very average pizzas, nothing special. I have known this pizza place for many years and known it to be fantastic pizza, however I haven't been there since the beginning of the pandemic and it seems that, based on recent reviews other than my own, that perhaps things have gone downhill with respect to the quality of each pizza that comes out of the kitchen. Used to be fantastic, plenty of sauce plenty of cheese and great crust. Now, the pizzas I had yesterday and shared with my family was just average, which is uncommon for this location, at least prior to the pandemic. Hopefully they get back their swagger and make the fantastic pizzas they used to make, if not I doubt that they'll last much longer, which is unfortunate because prior to the pandemic they definitely had a place in some of the lists of the best pizza places in town. I'm rooting for them to get better and will check the reviews again soon to see if they have improved and I will go back. If not, then I'll have to say goodbye to Pizza Italia after many years...
