So my life changed here today. On a day in which we normally celebrate the Battle of Puebla, it has now has new meaning. Today it shall forever be known as the day I transcended into a world in which peace is achieved and quite possibly one of the most beautiful tacos I could have ever imagined. A taco from the heavens. A taco so beautifully crafted only meant for those in San Antonio. A taco that is puro San Antonio!!! A taco that is the definition of where the Tex meets the Mex. Ladies and Gentlemen, The Carne Guisada y huevo frito con queso. The first bite and my consciousness was transported to what lies beyond time and space, it was beautiful. I saw myself as I hovered above destroying that taco. I donāt think Iāve ever felt that peace before. I felt as if I was destined to eat this taco on this day. My only fear is that I will never be able to experience anything like this ever again. I now only have the memories of what once was and what can never be again. I must wander through this life knowing that I can never get that first bite feeling back. This is my story. This is the day the carne guiada nation attacked my hunger and won. There is only before and after now. Godspeed.
I will without a doubt be returning for more. Everything was delicious. The Salsa Verde is some of the best Iāve had. Love the simple salsas. Nothing super fancy but something with heat and flavor. Lean Omelette looked incredible! The guacamole was delicious!! Big fan of the crushed ice too!!
Only critiques: Strip Bacon is the way to go. Was bummed it was chopped bacon in my bacon papas ranchero. And the tortillas need a little bit more thickness since the tacos are overloaded! The structural integrity of the tortilla was concerning. However my experience with the Carne Guisada y Fried Egg made it worth the five stars. Was going 4 but because Iāve never had anything like that before it gets the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJune 2025 (1604 & Tradesman area) I stopped in at Tacos n Salsa to get some breakfast tacos (I got potato & egg) and also picked up some additional tacos (fajita tacos) to take home.
I was on my way to assist a family member with some work at their house and couldn't resist not getting some of these tacos.
This place is one of the hidden gems in San Antonio and I hope you take the time to visit their eatery.
They have 3 locations, and I hope your experience is as good as mine or better.
April 2025 I was in the area and met some friends from USAA for lunch at the Huebner location. I ordered my old standby fajita w/ onion taco, and two (2) potatoe & egg tacos for breakfast tomorrow morning.
Added a picture of the outside of the store.
April 2024 If you are new or lived in San Antonio for some time, you should know about this place. It is locally owned, has a good product for the price, and is customer service oriented. The people are courteous and professional.
I visited on a Tuesday for lunch. Other times, I usually visit for breakfast. Tuesday, I ordered 2 beef fajita tacos. They are plentiful in meat and flavor. If you do not like chopped onions, let them know to hold them. For breakfast, I usually get the trash can taco or my old stand-by of potato and egg, bacon and egg, and a chorizo and egg.
They have a salsa bar that has various temps and flavors. Add some pico de gallo to for additional flavor.
I hope your experience is as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe place is pretty small. Nicely decorated. Not the most well laid out place on first impressions.
The guy at the counter instantly recognized I was a new customer. He offered some popular and his personal recommendations. I went with the 3 choices he recommended: Trash Can, TNS, & Beef Fajita and Egg. They were hot, fresh, and came out pretty quick. They were good tacos, not the best, however they were unique supported by a freshly made large flour tortilla.
I grabbed a few salsas to try. Salsa Verde, fire roasted, and ghost pepper. Salsa Verde was good, but lacked salt and overall Seasoning to give it that punch for the flavor to support the taco. Fire roasted was my favorite, nice roasted tomatoes and peppers. Really tasty. Very mild, just as described. The ghost pepper was a little spicy, but other than it being hot, had little working for it. It had a strange gloopy consistency.
Overall, I'd give it 3.8, maybe solid 4 stars. The Salsa really let down the taco since it is in the name. Is it the best in SA? No. Would I drive outa my way to go again? No. If I was in the neighborhood, sure. But they are a little high but with everyone else going up, who isn't?
Is is worth the hype? No, i think it's overhyped. However, if you're looking for a decent taco with a unique outlook, it's worth a try if you're in the...
