Extra Space Storage — Local services in San Antonio

When I went to check it out, I was helped by very friendly and helpful Tracy Gomez. I wasn’t sure which size to get, as I was moving a 2 bedroom apartment into storage. I was originally thinking of getting a 10’ X 15’, but as I was not totally sure, Tracy suggested I could check out a few units before deciding. She showed me the 10’ X 15’ (too big), 10’ X 10’ (too small), the 10’ X 13’ ended up being my Goldilocks just right. They price matched the web reservation rate for me, 1st month was free after a small deposit/admin fee, no minimum length of time or long term contract.

It was super nice that Tracy was focused on helping me make the best decision rather than enacting tactics to upsell me, as I went in frazzled and could’ve been taken advantage of by an unscrupulous business person, as moving is extremely stressful to me—the bain my existence, actually.

After getting signed up, learning about the detailed billing instructions, I bought the lock for the unit from them (brand new) which was reasonably priced, which you are not forced to use their specific lock, I did because it was easier for me timing-wise. Tracy then walked with me back to my unit, explained all the key details and and showed me how to use the lock. They also have quite a few flat bed carts you can use which saved me a lot of time unloading. The hallways are spacious, good lighting, super clean, modern building. Went in on another day, met another staff member, Joseph Salinas, and he was equally friendly and helpful.

One thing that would be nice: if there were water fountains on each floor, or if not, maybe a water cooler in the open area near each elevator, because it’s easy to get thirsty while moving. Lol. Very happy to have chosen this place for...

This company does not honor the price shown online. A reservation was made then when I go into the office Adrian tells me the price higher. I showed him my cell with the price they have listed and he did acknowledge that their site has the price posted but he says his system reflects a different amount and he cannot help honor the price listed. I called corporate office and spoke to Josh who was polite and apologized for the inconvenience and assured me he was going to honor the online price, book the reservation and email me info. I then received a call from Adrian at the local office and he gives me the runaround and still says he cannot honor the price after I had already been promised by Josh. He was sarcastic with the situation as if it amused him. I attempted to call back to the corporate office and spoke to Taj and again getting the runaround and he would continue to speak over me during our conversation. I was not asking for additional discounts on their unit, all I asked is that they honor the price listed online. Arrived at 5:52PM when the location I inquired on was scheduled to close at 6. Made it very clear that I did not have a ton of time and needed to have my storage unit selected and rented before 9am the following morning. Once I established this expectation, the employee that was helping me was very disgruntled because of my request to see the unit before I chose to rent it. (Made it very clear I am not going to rent something I have not seen yet.) he complained and essentially made me seem like I inconvenienced him to show me the unit. Very unprofessional and I did not seem like he was concerned about my time nor my needs. At the end of the tour, I decided to go with this location because pricing was reasonable and as we progressed through the tour, his demeanor changed. I also told him before the tour that I would be finished with everything by 6:10-6:15 at the latest. Was not impressed with customer service at all.
